Charging the battery?
Do you guys think the battery trunk cover could have been somewhat larger?
WTF. |

Much easier to charge by using the positive and negative lugs near the fuse box under the hood.

Go get a battery pigtail from battery tender… 5 bucks. Takeoff the side cover and the larger right hand cover once, and wire the battery… Have The pigtail coming out of the small cover… Never have to mess with this stuff again…

Not sure what they were intending on the battery access cover in the trunk. Its too small to accomplish much of anything. I run my tender connections thru the trunk area. Just pop the trunk, and plug it in. To install the pigtail connections I removed the passenger side trunk cover to access the battery... to properly bolt the connections up initially.
I my opinion its a lot easier than popping the hood to access the terminals there.

I don't see much difference between popping the hood or popping the trunk, and I didn't need to install pigtails. |

I think it's only meant to provide an easy way to disconnect the negative terminal. The liner needs to come out for anything else.

My guesses for why GM located the battery in the trunk:
1. Better weight distribution. 2. Crowded engine compartment. 3. Less hostile environment for battery. I use the Camaro battery tender regularly and use the leads under the hood. Chris |

2 I believe most of the settings are retained, but some things might need to be reset like the window indexing. |
