6,500 miles. Changes at 500, 1000, 1500, 3000, 6000. No cats so I run Mobil 0W40, the euro variety. Zero oil consumption. Very little in the catch can. I do wish the oil pressure was better in these engines. I monitor it on my aeroforce. Consistent but marginal at best I think.

Under normal spirited street driving I see no oil usage.
At a track day with 4-5 20 min sessions I use just under a quart. |

Any thoughts on why that is?

I did not notice any difference in usage when I went catless and switched to 0W-40 euro from 5W-30. I have no tangible evidence but I suspect the oil usage might be less now because I certainly run the car harder modded, with but no appreciable difference. Oil usage was definitely less with Mobil 1 0W40 in my 2005 LS2 GTO (an engine that had consumption issues) than the 30 weight I originally ran. Regardless, just happy to report that I have not experienced any oil usage issues whatsoever in the ZE. 👍

My ZL1 seems to be using a TON of oil.... MOre than i am comfortable with for sure.... it was down TWO quarts after about 5,000 miles of use between 15k miles and 20k miles......
not reading on the dipstick after 5K miles to me, is unquestionably too much... I don't beat on my car. highway pulls, weekend driving and cruises.... so i'm hoping my service department can provide me with an oil log sheet and i'll show them myself....

Yes, used one quart in first 2200 miles but it's too early to tell anything

I use about 2 quarts in between oil changes but I think it's because I use the paddles to downshift everytime I drive. My prior car, ctsv would drink a little more. It is what it is I guess. I just check the dip stick often.

Just raise your hood once a month, and have a look. Oil level between the min/max marks....golden, if it's close to the low mark, add 1/2 qt. No big deal. Any dealer, I don't care who made the car will not even bat an eye, until you're consuming more than a qt. per 1000 miles. |

I only run Mobil 1 15W-50 and only drive my car to/from track and mechanic. I burn about half a quart per track day. Not sure if normal, but I haven't investigated it. Car seems to run fine.

I assume you track at Laguna Seca, what's your Laguna pipe solution? I saw a shop in Bay Area that has a nice slip on version. |
