Oil cap and K&N intake tube on 15’ 1LE
With the K&N intake tube, am I going to have to run a line line I drew on the picture?
If so, that’s not very appealing to the eyes... What other options do I have? What about a oil catch can? Last edited by Tyestick; 02-21-2018 at 08:04 PM. |

With the K&N intake, they reroute that hose to the valve cover port. When I put mine on, I just plugged the one on the oil cap. Then I added a catch can

When you plugged the one on the oil cap, did you run it like that until you added a catch can? I was tempted to do that, but I might just leave it stock until I figure out how to route the hose, or get a catch can.

Yeah I ran it like that until I got the catch can. I'm sure some guys here will advise against that, but I did. Was about 5 months or so before I got the catch can.

So, it looks like I’ll need to purchase a catch can, along with some braided lines to complete the job. Mind sharing a picture of how you hooked everything up, from your oil cap/catch can and k&n? Thanks! |

Yeah I know what you mean. It's still relieving pressure though from the valve cover instead of the top of the oil cap. The catch can lines go to the intake manifold.
I got the small Moroso can. It came with rubber lines, but like you, I went with braided. I can get a picture tomorrow for you. I have one of the whole engine when I did my valve covers but you can't really see anything where the hoses go and things |

Ok, here ya go. Sorry it took so long and don't mind my dirty motor lol. I am off today and will be cleaning it. I do not know how to rotate them on here, don't know why they uploaded 90 degrees like that.
So the first picture is where the hose is routed into the valve cover instead of the oil cap. The second picture you can see that same hose going into the intake tube. Third picture is where the air oil seperator mounts and you can see my braided line going behind the throttle body. And last picture is the braided line going into the manifold. Hope this helps!! |

I have an SS L99 that didnt come with the factory cap (kinda like a catch can oil fill cap ?) that has any lines to it like yours. So I would assume you can run it without. I added the kn cai and i dont think i have any lines going to it

Thanks for the pictures!
It looks like you’re not even using the stock 1LE oil cap. That’s a billet aluminum one? That’s what I’ve been trying to figure out. How would I run my line from the stock 1LE oil cap, to the k&n tube...? Would it be easier just to go the same route and get a regular oil/billet aluminum cap? |

That is what I was talking about in the first post. You don't use the stock oil cap vent. I just plugged it. It is basically the same thing. It is just there to relieve pressure from the block like a PCV. So the K&N one should have come with that longer hose to route it to the valve cover.
And the billet oil cap, I think you can only do it with aftermarket covers. That was one of the main reasons I went to the Holley ones |

I think the L99 have lines going to the back of the driver's side valve cover. I can't remember the specifics but I know there was a different section when installing my air/oil separator.

Thanks for the help. Looks like I just need to purchase some line from the auto parts store, and a billet oil cap, and I should be good to go.
Can I use a billet oil cap with the engine cover still on? I’d prefer to leave the cover on right now. |

I don't think a billet oil cap will work. Might have to get one from like gm. Not just any. If you get a gm one I know it should work
