To me from reading the link, all modes could benefit from it as it sounds like it just locks and unlocks quicker than before. It doesn't sound like they are changing the algorithms of what circumstances it does it thing, it's just doing it faster. Doesn't it make sense to apply that across the board?
Unless I am reading the literature incorrectly.

Hey Mike...I run in the Great River Region. I may do one or two Chicago events this year. Not sure if you remember me, I introduced myself to you at Nationals last year. I was running the blue SS in F Street. Traded it (mostly due to Ice Mode) in for my new 2020 2SS 1LE after the season.
At this point, I'm just hoping our seasons will start on time due to all these cancellations... Mike |

How expensive would be to upgrade a SS to have an eLSD like the SS1LE and ZL1 have? I wonder why it wasn't included on the base Camaro SS

Elsd works in concert with PTM, so i dont believe you could just "upgrade", unless money was no object. But i have no hard data on this. |

Last year one of the fastest cars at an SCCA AutoX event was a '16 base Camaro SS with a ton of mods in X-class. My 1LE wasn't even in the same league, ELSD or not...

Just one thought, I don't understand why GM doesn't offer separate "trim difference upgrade" packages, or even a full 1LE package after the fact. I'm sure there would be many takers even if GM charged more than the option price at ordering. Not everyone can make a perfect decision on what they actually want when they purchase the car, and the same people aren't necessarily able to just trade the car in for another model and suck up the entire depreciation.

GM is no different. You cannot buy a Cayman S and then buy an upgrade package from Porsche to make it into a full GT4 for example. That's a decision that needs to be reaearched and decided on before buying, not after. But, Dave makes an excellent point above. The SS is still a superb performer. Apart from the suspension bits one can also easily put more aggressive tires on it. And lastly, but most importantly, one can always work on the nut behind the wheel cheers! |

The cradle lockout kit or solid bushings are the biggest difference in handling capabilities between the SS 1LE and the ZL1 1LE. Obviously the shocks on the ZLE are more track focused, but the MRC does an excellent job in its own right, they are well tuned. You can't argue the power difference, but not needed on the street IMO. Added power only helps in the higher gears anyways, as there is only so much TQ you can put down on a RWD car in 1st & 2nd.
