I do agree with the pricing being high. My 2010 car was 32,500

I don't think anyone argues the price for the performance you get when you compare to the rest of the market. I think it is just difficult for prior owners who paid low 30s for their GEN 5 SS to accept that they now need to spend close to 40k and probably more if you tick the irresistible options. Add more sales tax, no incentives or rebates right now, little discounting, etc. and it is quite a price jump to get into a V8.

I am waiting to see what Chevy has in the works for the ZL1 before I order a Mosaic Black SS and close the Black edition.

So I figure mine will be a 2018 Camaro either ZL1 or SS.

The question of would you not buy a 2016 because of the price for me is probably I may not. I bought a 2011 2SS/RS fully loaded and that same car in 2016 stickers at 47,000.00 + while my 2011 stickered at 39,000.00+. My 2011 has same options except mrc and nav. to me that is a BIG jump. I was going to order a 2016 until i priced one.

Eh...it's not a universal policy. FCA and Ford have program pricing available from Day 1 on everything except halo trims (Hellcats, Shelby's, Raptors) of particular cars..

Of the "Big 3"..GM is alone in locking out special program pricing for a half year after launch.

...and that does suck. I'd love to have an equivalent of Ford's Xplan.

It will be interesting to see what GM does when they finally do start offering discounts on this car, but aside from program pricing, I doubt we see many discounts on the 2016s.

Do what I did! Many folks will likely be trading in the '16 6th Gen for a possibly available '17 performance variant (ZL1) much as I saw happen with the Stingrays. The Z06 came out for '15 and there were a ton of base cars on the lots with almost no miles. I bought my 2014 Stingray in July of 2015 with only 1,400 miles and saved close to $5000 off MSRP.
I have a 2SS on order with Becky and I was thinking the same thing. Corvette motor with a backseat.

I was looking to spend 50K for a 2015 Corvette, 2Lt or better and an automatic so the bride can drive it. Looked for a few months and everyone wanted to much. So, I went to the check out the Camaros in person, decided I would spend 45K and get a 2SS. I don't really need the backseat for anything by a few packages anyway.

I think this may be due to the fact that GM no longer takes part in the MAS (Military Auto Source) program that allows soldiers and deployed civilians the opportunity to buy vehicles at a discounted price why they are deployed overseas.

I am a civilian deployed in Afghanistan right now and could go and buy any Ford or Chrysler/Fiat vehicle at a highly discounted price, but not a GM product.

The only thing I could not buy is the limited edition Roush Warrior Mustang that Ford is making in limited numbers and is only sold through MAS to active duty soldiers.

It is a bad ass looking ride and is pushing 627 HP!!! It also comes in red with black graphics and spoiler.
