Building 647

I picked up my 2018 SS 1LE April 2023with 18K on the clock and replaced all the fluids, plugs, and wires. This car will see some occasional track use and will receive subtle mods.

The car was handling terrible after the first track day and I found out all four corners and blown shocks and struts. Warranty replaced them and I replaced the brake ducts with the ducts off the Blackwing.

Speed Engineering X pipe

The previous owner removed the resonators and welded in pipes that were two different size. I also wasn’t a fan of the crush section of the factory pipe near the diff. I replaced it with Speed Engineering X pipe the runs from the cats to the muffler. Eventually the clamps were removed and the pipes were welded.

DSX flex fuel kit

Installed the DSX flex fuel kit to run corn squeezings. Using HP Tuners I used values from GM.

Intake

Added some radiant heat barrier material to air box. I also enlarged the opening on the hood vents.

More tire.

I picked up some used ZL1 1LE wheels on the cheap. One had a flat spot and I had it repaired locally for $120. I clearance notched the front struts instead of running a spacer. Running a 325 tire on the rear you need to relocate the wire harness on the drivers side.

+1 on what Arpad said; I clicked on the thread because I wasn't sure what the title meant, thought it might be a reference to an actual GM factory "building"?

But then it was like, hey, guy got a pretty nice looking car. (And I'm not usually even much for black on black.) Then, oh, hey, look, he's upgrading the fluids.

Wow, new suspension bits.

Cooling.

Breathing.

Flex fuel.

O MY GOD HE'S HOT-FOOTING IT AROUND THE TRACK ALREADY

(Yep, nicely done, both car and report.)

At your request I, too, will delete this post if that's the protocol (or your wish) for beginning a "journal" thread, or whatever. In the meantime congrats!

Arpad and Chief,

I appreciate the feed back and I don’t mind anyone commenting on this thread. I enjoy the feed back good or bad and invite anyone to ask question because I certainly will be asking a few of my own.

305 front tire poke

The front tire poke is minimal with 19x11 ZLE wheel on a 305 tire if you do a clearance grind on the strut versus a wheel spacer. This pic is with -2.5° of camber.

Sound clip of the X pipe

Sound clip of the Speed Engineering X Pipe. Start up and throttle blip. Attaches from the cats to the muffler deleting the resonators. One of the tracks I go to has 96dB limit and this just passes sound check. The irony of the sound limit is it’s located at the south end of Luke AFB with F-16 and F-35.

Love to see it!

That speed engineering mid section is the way to go too. For the price you can't go wrong.
