Added a new toy

I have always been a long time Corvette owner and sold my last one because I just had too much wrapped into 2 cars I hardly drive. I decided to get a C5 Z06.

Very nice! I always wanted a vette and my goal was to have 1 b4 I was 40. Ended up with my zl1 ony because after test driving a few vettes, I wasnt the biggest fan of the seats/sitting position. *which honestly shocked me . I do want to try a c8 though...those look amazing as well

Nice. I owned a 2002 and it was a lot of fun. I did a mild cam and long tube headers on mine. I also swapped the shifter for the C6 version which was smoother and had the better shift knob. The only problem I had was the dreaded clutch pedal getting would get sticky if you were hard on it. Everyone says you need to just keep cleaning the clutch fluid reservoir (ranger method) but I just think the clutch is too weak for the car.

Thanks, this one has a few bolts on, American Racing header plus full exhaust, Air Intake, MGW shifter which I'm getting use to. 34K miles and just has clean as my Camaro. I ordered all the fluids to do a full service and did watch the ranger fluid change. My clutch feels pretty solid but I haven't really tested it yet.

They are great cars, do yourself a favor and do the front brake upgrade. That's the only fault on that car.

Ahhh the venerable C5 Z06! I had one and loved it! Was a great all around car, for its time. The LS6 is a solid engine. Just make sure the valve springs have been changed. The older yellow ones were prone to break. The 2004 updated blue springs solved that issue. Rev’d quick for a pushrod engine.

Here’s my former C5Z06 at a VIR track day. Fun car on track. Makes my ZLE feel like a boat!

Nice. The C5 Z06 is such a fast, fun car. I used to have a blue 02 Z06.

Thanks the springs are upgraded. What’s the best front brakes for them. I think a lot of new Camaro owners had these cars back when they ruled the roads. I had a 02 Z06 10 years ago

There are many options, sadly they are all pricy, but this car demands upgraded stopping power.

With Camaro prices right now if something were to happen to mine I'd seriously consider like a 2007 C6 or something cheap with under 50k miles. Cam it, super charger it and make it into a monster while saving up for a Zl1.

What shys me away from a Z06 is I HATE driving a manual in the crappy Florida traffic and my mom can't drive a manual.

Nice addition Pauly. I’ve driven plenty of those cars and really really love them. They packed a ton of performance for their time and really still do for being pretty much 20 years old. Congratulations.

Thanks, for me the reason I did it is to balance my love for cars and the light at the end of the tunnel for retirement. Im 5 years away from full retirement and 1.5 years into partial. So I sold the newer Vette kept the Camaro and now everything is paid for with only taxes and insurance to worry about at this point forward. Honestly the C5 feels more of an old school raw hotrod that handles way better. Kinda get the same feel from the 1LE with way more refinements. But being a Corvette owner since I was 16 years old (now 52)I needed to keep one in the garage. Just makes me smile every time I walk in.
