Strong gasoline smell after fillup

On the last couple of fill-up's on my 17 SS vert, I get a strong odor of gasoline if I let the car sit in the garage for under 12 hours. Once I get to half a tank, it stops smelling. Have not seen or could find any leaks and have made sure the door was closed. I always let the pump click-off and don't overfill. Anyone else have this issue?

What about that vintage garage mate in your profile pic? What is that, a Dodge Diplomat or Buick Skylark? Whatever it is, maybe it's jealous and trying to tarnish your relationship with the red hottie.
I have a '17 in a garage and have not smelled gasoline.

The garage mate is a 87 Buick GN. The red hottie is jealous it's not as fast...but it sure can carve out a corner.... Problem just started out of nowhere...

Gasoline evaporates pretty quickly and it doesn’t take much to cause an odor in a confined space. If the smell goes away after the tank is half empty then it sounds like you have a small leak somewhere. I believe the fuel lines are all attached to the top of the fuel tank so maybe they aren’t a likely suspect. Seems more likely that you have a crack in the middle of the tank itself.

Any CEL's? Vent valve stuck open? Canister tube loose?
