My friend b... about visibility. Like he needs to see first feet in front of the hood. Only valid point is blind spot, but just use technology to fix that, so we can still have this awesome look.

Nah the numbers dropped in 2016 and continued to get worse, and it looks like in 2015 people might've been holding off for the 6th gen (the drop from 15-16 was only about 5000). I remember when I saw the first showing of the 6th gen I said "damnit, they went and screwed it up again!". They grew on me a bit over time though...but I also have had 3 of them so far.

GM chose to put its R&D into the vette and none in the camaro. The two cars are mostly the same market/buyer. The rear seats in my camaro dont even fit my kids all that well, so its just extra storage space. The 6th gen camaro has 90% of the capability of the C7.
Wonder what the camaro could have been like without the midengine vette taking up engineering bandwidth? The C8 vette is cool and all, but even though i could afford one, id still rather have my camaro because they go to such huge lengths to lock us out from tuning on newer stuff. There's just nothing i could do with it for fun, tweaking. If that caddy was a suburban id be interested, but just not a caddy person. And if given the choice between that and a better camaro... id take the camaro of course.

The answer is money. When developing a new vehicle (Escalade V) they can do whatever they want because the engine will have to be certified and emissions tested regardless of if they just take something off the shelf or try something new.
In the case of the Camaro, putting this new LT4 in would require more then just the cost of getting it to fit (which should be easy enough) they'd have to once again pay for certifications and emissions on a car they know will only sell X and would probably continue to sell X even without spending the money so whats the point? |

They are only spinning the 2650 13,500 rpm @ 10psi. The 1740 makes 9-10psi and spins 20,500rpm. So they picked up those meager gains basically with the same amount of boost spinning 7k rpm slower. Also note that 2650 will likely only get 30-40 degrees over ambient spinning that slow. So it will make that power all day without pulling timing. The 1740 is always pulling some timing on 93 in the warmer temps so you are not getting 650hp anyway...except for a cold pull. Stock tune pulls timing starting around 133 MAT and and a stock ZL1 pretty much runs around 140-150 all the time.

There were some pictures floating around of an "LT4.5" supercharger that was running on a mule escalade-v on Facebook (i can't seem to find them now). It was an LT5 2650 blower with no port injection rails, modified snout for wet sump spacing, and a different water manifold. The lid had Cadillac etched into it. It was rumored to be for the Escalade-V and a Camaro of some sort.
I am guessing because of production logistics, the EV push, etc.... they decided to axe it. |

This EV push is ridiculous and temporary. It's just not feasible to completely eliminate ICE in the time frame they're claiming. |

They sure did me a favor. What a mistake that would’ve been. Got a Telluride instead. Couldn’t have been happier. |
