Yep, that is true. But with a 50 mile roundtrip daily commute, saving me money is the only reason I would ever consider an EV.

It's just the nature of the beast. Higher energy density will invariably lead to more instability of the battery, and that's the issue solid state battery has, on top of the high cost. That's not to mention the ridiculous cost of solid state batteries.

I will believe it when I see it when it comes to mass producing solid state batteries. You'd think the tech companies would also be marketing a viable solid state battery if one is really coming out.

Hydrocarbon fuel is great in the sense that it has high energy density, but it needs oxygen to do any harm, which makes it relatively easy to manage safety-wise.

But hey, look out Prius. Here comes Corvette!
Japanese hybrids sell just fine around here. It's just that American manufacturers tend to be shite when it comes to marketing them.

Supposedly the Fusion hybrid was also solid. I talked to a mechanic who has one and he thinks it is a decent car. He said it's a shame that Ford was crap at marketing it.

I admit, I'll miss the sound, feel and smell of a combustion engine. But imagine instant torque, no risk of rings/rods blowing out under load and all of that mass mounted low for stability.
