CTS-V2 brakes an upgrade over 4 piston Brembos?

I've been thinking about upgrading to the 1LE 6-piston Brembos but I saw ZZPerformance has a big brake kit for almost $1k less. It looks like they use the CTS-V2 calipers/rotors. They didn't have any testing data on them though which is odd.

Anyone use these or know if they're truly an upgrade over the 4-pistons? I'm assuming if they slowed that 4200lb boat then they'll do well on an SS, but it'd be nice to have some tests for $1700 brakes.

I can tell you that the calipers from the CTS-V and ATS-V do translate over to the Camaro stuff. What I mean is that the pistons, pad sizes, brake hoses, and other hardware are common. I think even the rotors fit correctly; however, I am not sure if you can actually bolt-on the CTS/ATS calipers to the Camaro mounting points.

IIRC, those calipers are a common design with the ATS-V and SS 1LE Camaro. They should do fine on your SS as long as you're not adding significant power to drive on a road course.

The 2009-2015 CTS-V has the 370mm/365mm setup, also the 5th Gen ZL1 setup. The 2016-2019 CTS-V has the 390mm/365mm setup, like the ZL1. The 2016-2019 ATS-V has the 370mm/339mm setup, like the SS 1LE. What setup did you install? Just curious.

Car would never see a road course, I don't really have a specific reason for getting them I just want bigger brakes lol.

They're the same specs as the 1LE? interesting I don't know why ZZP didn't say that when I asked about them. When replacing pads are you using CTS-V pads or do the 1LE pads fit the rotors?

I developed and built the 6 piston kit and have had it on my car for 2+ years and over a dozen track days. It is 100% an upgrade over the 4 piston kit.

Like Krops said we use a CTS V-2 caliper and rotor combo. It's a 14.6" rotor, the new ZL1 1LE rotor is just a hair larger at 15". If you need replacement pads or rotors there's nothing special or machining needed, you can grab off the shelf options. The caliper is not a direct bolt on, the kit comes with a laser cut adapter plate. I've run the stock Brembo pads (Ferodo HP1000) as my track pad the last few years and then I use the Powerstop Z26 as my daily pad.
