Thinking about a SS
Just had to lemon law a new 2019 C7 i bought in May. Thinking about a Camaro. I had come from a modded 2013 C6 that ran like a champ and was trouble free the three years i had it. Like a fool knowing about all the trouble of the C7's i had to try one out.
Had the rear end warble at 400 miles and A8 trans shudder. This was a Feb 2019 made car with the newest so called fluid. I just hated the C7 the day i drove it home. Big time lag and even tried a Soler ported TB that did help some. Car felt like a slug compared to the modded C6. Nothing the C7 did better than the C6 other than feel more planted at fast turns. I was thinking about a used SS with A10 auto as i sure don't want nothing to do with another A8. Or a new Stang GT. Had a 2015 GT that was just ok to me as the power was up high and the C6 just killed it in everyway. How is the new A10 auto? I am hoping the SS is not tuned with big time lag like my C7 was. I had plans to mod the C7 but with all the trouble there was no way i was gonna blow the warranty. So C7 is off my list and C6's are getting old now. Seems like my only choices is a used 2019 and up SS or a 2019 and up GT Stang. |

Get a A10 ZL1, you won’t be disappointed

I have a 2SS and it's awesome, including even the (tuned) A8, but in your shoes I would simply get a low mileage 2017 or 2018 A10 ZL1, then mod it for more power.
The reason? Prices have gone down to more reasonable territory and IMO will continue to decrease slowly after the current blip, the LT4 can take more abuse than the LT1, plus it already has the supporting mods you'd need to begin with if you go with the SS. Also, if you are after 'moar powa babeh', the 10L90 trans in the ZL1 is more stout than the 10L80 in the newer SS trims.

The performance exhaust in my C7 was a lame duck. But i was used to NPP in a box and headers and no CATS. I like loud. I don't need all the toys and fancey stuff. Just the basic stuff that came in my C6 was fine with me. Learning all the new screens and tricks of the C7 was a pain. Also no more dark colors and never a clear top ever again. I guess these cars have the 4 and 8 banger junk like my C7 had. I had a Range device to keep it in V8 mode. |

You should look into an SS1LE with the A10. Right at your budget with discounts and rebates and it would be brand new.
I had a C7 Z51/w Magride and I like my SS1LE more (mine is a manual). I just sold a GT350 and prefer the SS1LE. |

A10 in the SS is awesome. Love it.

Do NOT pass up a test drive, I'm pretty sure you'll be pleased with how good the chassis and the handling are, I'm sure the car will stand its ground compared to your C7. One more thing, personally I would want magnetic ride control in any street driven Camaro, but then I'm pampered If you choose the 1LE package, it already comes with MRC. Yes, cylinder deactivation is used in the SS (not in the ZL1, btw), but it can easily be tuned out or as you said, defeated with the Range device, but of course you'll want a tune with power mods no matter what.

I’m thinking with your budget in mind maybe you should consider a new LT1 with the optional A10 speed. You could order NPP exhaust and the Recaro seat option for a nice alternative to a SS and it would be cheaper too. And you would get the same 6.2 LT1 that’s in the SS and it is a good platform to do mods because you would save money over buying an SS.

Not right now. Used GT350 prices have skyrocketed. Mine went up $10K from April to August. I drove mine for almost a year and sold it for what I paid. Basically no depreciation. Used Camaro prices are way up too and very limited inventory. I tried to buy a low mileages used SS1LE, but for just a few grand mor I bought new.
