DIY Flex Fuel installation instructions and thread talking about its pros/cons

Hello everyone,

Has anyone ever done a detailed how-to tutorial on swapping everything out needed to go to a Flex Fuel/E85 setup? and also i think there was a thread from a few weeks ago that talked about the pros and cons of a FF/E85 conversion. I'm having a hard time finding it and searching for it though. Anyone have it bookmarked or know of it?

I think it was a Google thing and not on here. There wasn't anything on the cons except for obvious stuff like availability and mpg. Not likely to find any nay sayers here. No ones blown up anything akaik it's all been positive. There's a caution on delivery limitations, pulling hard so use partial mixes no more than 50/50 e10/e8x. I'd like to see the hook up info too.

I’m in a SS but I did find this install PDF. Cooper1965 and Wook would know better than me.

Yeah i cant remember where i saw the discussion, it was either on here, youtube comments or another car forum i found through google search. Mainly what i wanted to know about are the cons of daily driving/long term E85 use. And not just wear and tear on the engine but also parts of the fuel delivery affected by the E85 change.

https://youtu.be/LFIvsNO_8M is an E85 kit install video on the ATS which is also a LTG platform. As Trochoidal stated Vermont is a great source to look at as well they also in my opinion have the best e85 kit.

As far as a discussion about pros and cons to flex fuel its all over google.

Granted this is the parts breakdown for a flex kit
Flex Sensor - Amazon $56
Wiring - Amazon $10
Hoses/Adapter - Amazon $60

If you need any assistance installing a flex kit, let me know. I've done it on my car personally and helped a few folks lately since we opened up flex tuning on the 16/17 cars.

As far as pro/cons go, really everything with the LTG cars is a pro. Like others have said, fuel delivery and system limitation is something you have to watch. Typically a 50/50 mix of 93 and E85 is best, keeping you right around E47. With E47 you get 90% of the benefits of full E and get to retain a semblance of decent gas mileage. With all the LSPI issues that the LTG has ethanol is always a benefit. Cooler burning, ability to run more timing etc. My cars been running on a mix for over a year now and it's been nothing but great. If you've got any other questions lemme know.
