I bet it sounds great... and enjoyed following your build. Other things i have seen recently that i wonder how many others are considering... 1. Aftermarket Lids? Sounds silly... but a few reputable shops are posting decent gains... 2. SC spacers and blanket to reduce heat-soak. Also, I assume you did a catch can at the same time? If so... which did you pick and why?

A lid that doesn't absorb or conduct heat like natural insulators would be great, theoretically.

Personally I doubt a new lid does much of anything besides change appearance. I may do one later but I wouldnt expect any performance gain at all. I didn’t look at them during this build because I had enough going on already with the other pieces and I was focused on performance. I researched catch cans pretty extensively and I found the two most popular are Mighty Mouse and Elite Engineering. Like most things on this board, people essentially liked the one they chose the best. But they both seemed equally sufficient for a bolt on build. I chose Elite because I liked their fit and finish better. I have not researched the blanket and spacer mods, so I can’t help you there.

I agree with you there... i think there gains are coming from a better internal shape and polishing?

To bring an earlier thread topic to closure, using SAE's formula, I got 23.64% CF on that dyno day here:
CF=1.18 x (29.22/Bdo) x (√To + 460 / 537) – 0.18 1.18 x (29.22/24.02) x (√90+460 / 537) – 0.18 1.18 x (.882) x (√550 / 537) – 0.18 1.18 x (.882) x (23.45 / 537) – 0.18 1.18 x (.882) x (22.89) - 0.18 = CF = 23.64% Bdo = 24.02 inHg To = 90F But the web says 26%

For those who don't understand, ACTUAL hp is what you need to consider when you say that a fuel system is good for xxx hp on xxx fuel, because these ridiculous dyno correction factors over 20% that show up at higher altitude really skew the numbers unrealistically. |

On the other hand, every tuner/dyno up here uses either SAE or STD formula which produces CF between 20-26%. And veteran racers up here agree, based on ET results, that their cars slow down accordingly.

Yea. I believe boost would increase by the air pressure (psia) difference between here (11.9) and sea level (14.7) or ~2.8psia, which equates to that 20% we keep referring to here.

As boost raises, I would think heat would also rise accordingly? So that could also be a factor as well as fuel demands from more air at a lower elevation

Tim, all of this is related to your actual and corrected hp. We're not stepping on your thread

I asked my tuner about that and he said it shouldn’t make more heat because the blower isn’t spinning any faster. He thought the ported blower would run cooler than an unported blower. But I don’t really know. Definitely not my area of expertise LOL.

Not stepping on it at all. Interesting discussion.

Mine has behaved nicely. We added 5 degrees of advance on my final run last week and it picked up .12. Heat has not yet become an issue [other than the absence of it last night at 28F!].
