That's true. Just bought a Tahoe RST. It was on the window sticker listed something like AFM Chip Delete with a $50 credit off the price.

When I had bought a 2016 Traverse, because GM overstated the MPG by 1MPG, I got a $1500 pre-paid Visa card as part of a class action settlement. To make up for 1MPG. But, now you get $50? |

And with the number of people on this site that 1) hate and rag on AFM and 2) eliminate it with a recalibration or 3) plug in the OBDII device to turn it off I would think this missing chip is a blessing. But likely a 1 mpg reduction in EPA highway.

The other part you've glossed over is ACTUAL financial impact of that being missing... I, and every other class action member, received $1500. That was -AFTER- the lawyers were paid. How much would the real difference have been? |

And in your case, $1500 to cover a 1 mpg difference is pretty generous. 1 mpg over 100,000 miles (20 vs 19 as an example) is about 260 gallons or $780 over that 100,000 miles. And yes, lawyers got PAYYYYYYYYYD. There are people whose job is to look for class action status. I know of one lawyer that just got that one huge payday and never worked a day again. But a different discussion. Again, regardless of the mpg difference it was clearly stated that AFM is NOT on the vehicle the poster purchased. Unlike you, it was easily in the purchase decision. But to further the point, my SS did not have AFM (wonderful btw) but I had to pay the GG tax on the automatic. GM purposely put AFM on the Camaro to avoid the GG tax. Trucks, I believe, are exempt from that. That alone makes it easier to sell the truck without the module. So GM to sell a Camaro without that module would have more ramifications tax wise. And it's pretty much 1 mpg or on the test. Real world?

Aren't cars sold with missing chips for whatever function promised/required to come back to the dealership and have them installed once they become available again?
Surprised they allow sales of cars without these fuel saver features. All the complexity and engineering put into a AFM system that is just dismissed out of hand. Too bad the buyer can't also realize a price savings from AFM and Start/Stop not being functional...(Two features no-one would have paid extra for as an option)...Now, oh well, they just don't work...lol What happens at a smog-check if it shows up that these are dis-abled? If the owner tunes it out on his own...violation!...No chip from the factory...no worries....lol |

Everyone needs to face it that chevy doesn't care about the Camaro and it doesn't get high priority. They'd rather pump put a bunch of equinox and Silverados and ship them first. |

Ugh - I have to stop reading these threads, lol. I got my order in 3 days ago for a 2022 1LT and was told by my long-time sales guy at my local dealer to expect an early/mid spring of 2022 delivery. I hope thats realistic since being in upstate, NY I dont need or care to have the car over the winter. It would be parked/stored anyways! But still..... I hope I dont get a delivery date of like END of summer 2022... that'll ruin my summer. :(
