I was eyeing that Flowmaster mid pipe. Let us know how hard the installation/ fitment is. I wanted borla, but they don't have a system that bolts up to secondary cat deletes anymore.

What would be the benefit of secondary cat delete on a stock engine? Just curious because I see a lot of people deleting them. Is it just a sound increase on a stock engine or better flow or both?

They are worth a few horsepower each but nothing noticeable by themselves. People do it for the sound. Some say it adds a bit of rasp to delete them but it gives the car louder cold starts and louder WOT.

The hard part is probably grinding the brace smooth. |

I know many have said removing the crushed sections needed for the convertible models doesn’t make a difference but, hooker sells a pipe kit that claims 12hp.
The sound level over all is quite good. There is a resonance at some RPM/load ranges as many have said. I can deal with that. The wife says it feels faster. As the driver it’s harder to tell. It must be a lot louder outside. More people turn around to look what’s coming. |

There have been several tests of this and its not true, there is no power loss from the crush pipes and nothing to be gained from replacing them. Apparently there is a noticeable sound difference though. I probably will end up replacing mine but with a midpipe when I start modifying my car and am okay tuning out the AFM system.
