#3 Ridge Motorsports Park – WITH the Chicane 155.95
WITHOUT the Chicane 148.91 Since the car needed a full service and the axle retainer clip recall done, I took it to the dealer and had them perform all the work. (All fluids, axle clip recall, brake fluid flush with DOT4, ZLE rear subframe bushings since they were dropping the rear cradle anyway and another full alignment) I had installed the GMPP CAI kit and was told the flash was no go for 2021. The dealer was able to get the GMPP CAI flash done, even though I was told it couldn’t happen. Side bar – The local dealer has a mechanic that is their “track” mechanic and is well versed in Corvettes and Camaros. He was able to get the alignment where it needed to be, per the GM track specs. Car is still on the stock wheels, Goodyear tires and brake pads. Changes from #2 – GMPP CAI with calibration – ZLE rear subframe bushings, DOT4 fluid, different alignment (-2.5F -1.5 R .002 Toe) On track – So…..there ended up with a lot happening this session. With all the changes listed above, the tests included: - Ridge with the Chicane - Ridge without the Chicane - Ridge Chicane all electronics OFF - Ridge Chicane in ESC in RACE mode and TC off Video of the laps without the Chicane - https://youtu.be/voyRhiJPH3k Observations – Considering how little was actually done, the changes were very noticeable. The alignment was felt, everywhere….turn in, mid corner and on exits. I know a lot of people complain about understeer on these cars, I basically had none, unless I pushed too hard and made it happen. (Remember, I’m still on the OEM F1 S3 tires) The car was unflappable on entries and even more so with the ESC on Race. I’m chalking this up to the subframe bushings. The data charts tell the tale with the much higher entry speeds. Powerwise with the GMPP CAI and mapping, for sure smoother running and throttle response, but no real performance difference. I did run it to the revlimiter coming out of 11 (waste of time for an upshift) and also up the front straight where I should have gone to 5th without the Chicane. I also had zero issues with the brakes. No fade, pretty good power and modulation – still on stock pads, but good fluid. I did push the entries a bit more and the ABS activation is starting to be a problem. I’m hoping stickier tires solves this and I’ll also go to a race type of a pad. Here is the lap time difference from Test#2 And....I was able to sneak in a electronics test. My morning runs were all done with TC and ESC OFF......I did a back to back with the car in RACE mode and.....it was faster. The car have me so much more confidence on the entry, that I could really push it until the ABS was consistently holding me back. I also set my outright fastest lap with NO Chicane with it in Race mode as well. Pretty surprised and it flat out works. Here is the back too back test - Last edited by khcoaching; 07-16-2021 at 07:55 AM. |

WOW!! Awesome time! You are carrying some great speed!
I've been trying some new lines with the new pavement, and seeing your line certain lends some creedence to what I've felt. The double apex on 6 and 8 is great confirmation and you're staying much further inside on 11 and at the start of 15 than I've tried. Also you're clearly braking later than I am. lol. Can't wait to try some of those lines tomorrow!! |

Update on consumables......at this point, the car has a total of what I would call 2.5 days on it, pretty much all hard.
Tires - The tires could probably go another day, but it wouldn't be a record pace. Front wear is pretty darn excellent, maybe another .5 of camber, but really close. The rear for sure needs more camber, but it will have to wait for the arms to get installed. Front Rear Brakes - Rotors look amazing, you can even make out some of the cross hatch on the edge on the right front. I think the stock pads are pretty easy on the rotors and I am impressed with how well they work....still no fade and plenty of stopping power. Pad wear is more than I would have thought, but pretty good. Probably another day left in them. Ken Last edited by khcoaching; 07-18-2021 at 03:14 PM. |

Great info! How are you getting more camber out of the rear?
The SC3s are amazing, but for sure fell off PB pace on the 2nd day even though the wear is good. I think I could only get another day max out of my pads..... Ken |

The tech who did the alignment could only get 1.8 and 1.5 out of the year and he has quite a lot of experience with these cars. I'll the the arms on after I try the square setup as it isn't horrible now. Ken |
