You can say that to argue against creating any type of job. 'Don't fix our roads, those jobs cost money!' 'Don't fix our bridges, that costs money!' Should we not bother updating any other type of infrastructure because the jobs cost money? |

the only way EVs can work without a massive overhaul of our infrastructure is if a solar panel that produces enough electricity to run the vehicle and its systems becomes available.and theres always that rainy weather pattern that holds in place for a week or more.truth is,we are in a golden age of motoring right now and it wont last forever.

Highways slated to last 2 decades aren’t making it 5 or 6 years. Urban areas are in a flux of constant revamping & upgrade. Shall we discuss the failed projects in MN & CA, to name a couple, with their light rails where overages & lack of foresight has pushed these projects in the hundreds of millions in overages? What about the damn failures in CA & the I35 Bridge failure in MN where the MNDOT director was forced to resign & extensive malfeasance was proven? Only to have her later pop up scrunching for a job in the NE where she lied on her state employment application? How would a nearly ground up initiative of electrical production, transmission & distribution fair? You seriously think any better? Especially since nothing, zip, zero, zilch has been planned, proposed or even remotely researched or considered as plausible, probable or significantly thought out to even the slightest degree. Now imagine our current electrical grid requiring to be upgraded to handle nearly 10x’s (the number is actually closer to 50x’s) the current energy production & transmission it currently has to replace petrol fuel powered vehicles currently in use. |

I am old enough to remember when paper bags were banned because we were using too much paper, and filling the landfills. So they stopped giving paper bags and replaced them with plastic bags. Some 30 years later they tell us that plastic bags are polluting the earth and we have to ban them. So what are we going to do when they tell us that we have to stop using batteries and electricity? |

Yeah roads, highways, bridges, etc are already in place but it still costs $$$ to maintain them. Again though, that requires jobs. Regarding new or updated infrastructure--imagine if we threw our hands up and refused to build new interstate highways in the 1900s, or railroads before then, because they 'cost money.' That's essentially what you're saying. Yes those things cost money and they also created jobs. As for your examples, there will always be some issues associated with growth. Are we seriously going to allow those few examples to stop all progress? |

Other note, if GM does get rid of ICE by 2035 I wonder how that will effect truck sales. I know the electric motors will definitely be able to provide enough power but will they be efficient enough for people that work their trucks hard? |
