I Would If I Could

So, I am not selling anything, but just making y'all that are looking for a new Camaro aware of a great deal my fiancé stumbled upon. He's in Michigan and had his Silverado in for an oil change. He called me, flat in love with a new Camaro in the showroom. I did a little research after he told me the price
This is what he found, significantly discounted, because who wants a convertible in Michigan in November????

This might get deleted by the mods, apologies if I break any rules, but as I said, I'm not selling and am not employed by them, just want to share a great deal. They might give me some brownie points if I find them a buyer!

Listed as "new" with 3k miles ... right. Does not have NPP. KBB trade in value is $30k. Private party $35k.

But it's a red hot vert, so....

Not that good of a deal for a 2018 in my opinion and with 3,000 miles too. That 2020 SS in shock color would be a better deal to me!

So, you live in GA and your fiancée is getting his oil changed and car shopping in MI?

And, If I had to choose, I vote with LT4Greg on the shock over the Vertie...

2020 Shock SS is a better deal imo. The red Vert looks better. 16-18's still the best looking 6th gen next to the 17-18 ZL1's.

Technically speaking, it probably is "new". It was either a service loaner car, or perhaps a manager's demo. In that case, KBB value doesn't fit because it has no previous owners, never been titled and registered, as KBB would assume it being a traditional "used car".

The price is good - except for the 3,000 miles on it.

My point was about value not about the semantics of legal newness.

But even so let's presume for a moment it is indeed an untitled loaner/demo, so legally a New Car. That legal title status does not change the reality that the moment it's titled all of that accumulated "usedness" instantly catches up and the new owner instantly has a 2 year old vert with 3k miles that's worth $30k on trade/auction.

That's a $10k hit to the new owner off asking price and $10k profit for the dealer, against which the dealer has been writing its depreciation off their floorplan and taking the tax benefit for two years.

Yeah I know there's always a depreciation hit with any new car, but why give the dealer a $10k gross profit when $2k is normal on a new car in that price range? Used maybe $3-5k is normal.

The dealer is trying to make better than used car money on (assuming) what they are legally allowed to sell as a new car.

So yeah the point of my post: trying to save fellow forum members from a big financial hit on a "neused" but otherwise beautiful Red Hot 2SS Vert

Yes I had a dealer loaner while my car was in the body shop once, I was told when it gets close to 2500 miles to come get another loaner as they try to keep the mileage low for resale sakes

My dealer has a 2017 2LT still sitting on the lot. At this point, it may sit there forever.

I had a dealer loaner as well when I had to take my car (that I owned for a week) back to the dealership. They sold me the car with an open recall.

Took possession of the loaner ('17 Camaro RS Vert) with 5,100 miles and returned it with 12,200 miles. They advertised it as a Courtesy Transportation Vehicle.
