They're developing passenger drones. Wow. I have to say i'm relatively impressed by the presentation. I have a feeling ICE vehicle development will suffer and GM's offerings won't stack up as they shift all their engineering prowess to EVs but all speculation. Ultium seems well thought out and flexible. And there was a low roof vehicle back there in the dark, hmmm.

I love my ICE cars and trucks but I'm impressed and giddy about where gm is headed with the BEV future.

Thanks for pointing that out, James. I'm sure you know more about that than you're allowed to say, but thanks to gm for giving you a way to point it out to us. We'll have to watch for spy photos of Al O driving around in one.

MotorTrend blew up the pic and lightened it. It's sporty but not a low roof. That being said, Simcoe himself referred to it as a Buick.

Imagine back in 2008 if someone told you that in 15 years, GM would be a leader in EV tech, building cars for Honda, and getting into the logistics business.

The car James pointed out is farther to the left of that one. To the left of the one that appears to be a Cadillac.

Simcoe said that was a Buick too. Couple other sources are saying it's the upcoming Bolt EUV. Whatever it is, it doesn't appear to be a low roof entry either.

Possibly. I'm thinking from left to right...
Buick CUV, Blazer, Chevrolet EV truck, Buick CUV All we really know is there are two Buicks back there per Simcoe, plus the Chevrolet EV truck. Theoretically there's another Chevrolet back there.

What we're assuming is a Chevy truck looks like the SSR. The styling is going to be funky either way. I was hoping for an Avalanche clone.

The disclaimer says at the bottom "simulated vehicles and images shown throughout"...
It's all imaginary pixels that people are trying to figure out....

Except 4/7 are legit vehicles we've already seen in development and the presenter straight up said they were future product...

GM has stated they will have 30 EV models in production by 2025. I think they even stated they are ahead of schedule....These sort of teasers and previews will likely be more and more common....Not my cup of tea. They all pretty much look and perform the same...
Even the new delivery trucks will be basically a Hummer platform. The diversity will be much less in performance, and only slight cosmetic differences will be touted. The more time goes by, I think boredom and monotony will be the trademark of EVs no matter how much they try and make it look otherwise. If you are dazzled and amazed with your I-Phone, you will probably find new EVs exciting. My $.02. This is when EVs were a novelty and fun to drive, but only for a short while...lol Last edited by 90503; 01-13-2021 at 11:21 AM. |
