With 70s more horsepower, and 270 pounds less, I'm more inclined to believe that the GT500 will be faster. I know handling can make a difference, but given the GT has higher handling limits and is better balanced than the SS, I find it hard to believe that the ZL1 could push the handling bar far enough ahead of the GT500 to beat it on a high speed road course, given its significant power:weight disadvantage, which further grows when you consider that a SRA losses less than an IRS between the flywheel and the ground.
I'm certainly not trying to imply the ZL1 is slow, because it isn't. I'm just suggesting we be objective enough to take basic math and physics into account.

I bet the 13 GT500 with all the track goodies (track pak/performance pak)is 10K over the ZL1

Very doubtful. It's very unlikely that the combo of the two packages will cost more than 6 or 7k, which would mean a base price of 59 or 60k, which is 10 or 11k more than the 2012 base, and it just doesn't cost 10 or 11k to swap out the eaton for the tvs, add the CF driveshaft, punch the 5.4 out to 5.8, etc.

Some of the rumors I've heard suggest a starting price in the low 70s. It seems the 2013 GT500 is going to be in a completely different league in every way even compared to the 2012. Now that they have the Boss filling the niche below, the engineers are free to really get crazy and fill more of the space above, particularly since that space is empty for Ford, as they don't have a Corvette.

You guys dont forget the 650hp is at continuous 6250rpm for the gt500.....BUT as hotrod magazine who just did a write-up wrote the car (2013 gt500) make more then 670hp when run to the limiter at 7000rpm (i think theres a limit to 10 continuous seconds for the 7000rpm)
I made a thread a couple of days ago stating what i read about 670hp but moderators erased the thread....i didnt think the mods were so thin skinned. |

would be interesting to know what the GT500 is going to cost, total out the door.i would venture to predict it will be just a tad more than our ZL1.
