Laser is pretty much all they use in my area. Makes radar detectors just about useless.

Waze worked fine for me last summer when I drove from Northern Virginia to VA Beach for the weekend. I used it all weekend going back and forth from the hotel to the office to the beach... To the OP - you probably already know radar detectors are illegal here. I'd recommend another option to avoid tickets. Waze has worked wonders for me, and I'm also pretty careful picking and choosing where to open it up. |

I prefer a Jammer over a Detector - and both together even better. Waze also works wonders, unless you are the first one that gets caught.

The r7 Is hands down the best windshield mountable detector ive ever used and they are immune to most RDD's so you should be okay even in virginia. the R3 is just as good but doesnt give you the direction arrows which I think is a huge advantage. Only thing I don't like about the r7 is how big it is and the price.

Pretty much it goes off saying, “pull over!” (Unless things have changed recently)
Funny thing is the next town over uses a white 5th Gen Camaro as an unmarked car shooting laser!

Yeah, Waze is a great app which I'm familiar with. My C5 did not have any kind of a display. But now, in the ZL1, I assume I'll be able to connect and display my Android phone and apps to the ZL1 via Android Auto?
Since radar detectors are illegal in VA I would rather not provide any additional reason to get pulled over. |

+1 for feeling naked w/o it. I swap it back and forth between my Tundra and Z. As we all know, things happen a LOT faster when doing even a short WOT run in these things. Definitely saved me a lot. Number of times when i was going to give it a little rip when turning down a side road and no cars coming and KA goes off...saved by the bell...
Like others said, they have radar detector detectors. My buddy got his taken (and a ticket) when traveling through Virginia.

This is not a very cost effective option, but the best insurance. Most fully integrated laser jammer and detector systems run $4k-$5k installed.

Regardless, if I lived in Virginia, and I had a ZL-1, I would go full boat on electronic countermeasures. You can get these cars to 120 and above in just a few seconds, and sometimes you just got to let 'er rip. https://jalopnik.com/what-every-driv...ini-1669902845 |
