I have been a diehard manual trans fan and proponent my entire life.

I am 35 years old and for the first time in my life I am buying an automatic car, the trans in this car has gotten so much praise its hard to ignore!

I think the A10 would be awesome if you are used to a M6 or a regular slush box, but I have to be honest, after having a DCT in my previous M3, there is just no way I could do an auto that was not DCT based.

DCT is next level. Sure the A10 can match the up shifts, but there isn't a traditional Auto that can match the downshifts or the immediate reaction when you click the downshift paddle. If there is one thing I HATE with a PASSION, it's the delay from the time you click that paddle until the actual downshift happens.

I have been spoiled by DCT, for me it's DCT or bust for an auto.

I was always going A10 on a ZL1 regardless of if I get the 1LE. Some criticize my preference to auto’s but I just hate manuals. I’d rather have the option to shift on my own minus the clutch inconvenience than have to be stuck driving a stick, every.single.time. I’ve just never enjoyed it, my first car was a manual, I hated it with a passion.

you need to drive an A10 ZL1...you will be amazed that there is no discernible delay.

I wonder if there's different programming in the 1 and 2 SS 10 speeds compared to the ZL1? I almost went with a 2019 1SS for the same price as my new 2018 2SS. I always enjoyed the 8 speed in my 2016, but did a tune to tighten up the shifts and it was awesome. I think they're pretty good bone stock.

I never drove a car with a pdk. I was in Mexico last night and went in HOT around a curve and the car blipped the throttle and down shifted. I was in shock. It was pretty cool.

I complained enough about the 1LE not being available with the ten speed, I felt compelled to put my money where my mouth is when they stood up and did it. I own an 18 speed 613 Mack, I get all the shifting I need in my life. After asking the questions about my concerns here and with other trusted people in the business, it is unanimous that the 10 speed does everything very well. So the decision was very easy, well worth the 1500 upgrade, all of which will likely come back at trade time.

I agree. It's not instant, but it's pretty darn close. Every shift has occurred by the time the paddle has returned to its normal position.

I love when that happens! Have you activated the roll race mode yet? I thought that was very cool too when I stumbled upon it!

I am trying very hard to not buy another ZL1. This talk on the A10 is very hard to resist. And there are a lot of 2018's out there on mark down.

Wonder what will happen after april 1st, when the 15% incentives are gone?

OP..thought you had your car delivered, you drive all the way to Minnesota?

Almost hate to get into this debate. A buddy and I swapped cars last weekend for a fun, curvy back highway 15 miles there and back each way. His ZL1 A10 and mine ZL1 1LE. My impression was the A10 is truly fun ride, but the M6 ZL1 1LE, IMHO, is just so much more fun. Probably more to do with the suspension. Got out of the A10 with a grin and he got out with a look of holy $#it, this thing is more than I want to push. Gotta love diversity in fun cars and to each their own as far as preferences!

Either way both are great cars and more than mere mortals can push to more then close to the limits! Hats off to GM!

BTW - Not a drag guy, but just don't get the M6 bog issue. Maybe the ZL1 1LE tune, but have to pedal mine to keep from boiling the Goodyear F13Rs. I think most of the issue is that you can't modulate the clutch under hard load or it will cut power to save the clutch/drive train. Just gotta get it rolling and modulate the go pedal.
