What happened to FAST?

Do they just think the LS platform will dominate the market forever? Don't get me wrong I've got nothing but love for the LS platform, but can't figure out why FAST hasn't jumped on the LT bandwagon. The aftermarket needs to go with the flow and evolve with the auto industry if a company hopes to survive.

Look at MSD. Factory ignition systems are way better than they were 30+ years ago and don't need modifying. I don't even see MSD advertising their ignition systems anymore even though they still make them for older cars. Now MSD of course makes nice intake manifolds for LS7's and LT1's, etc. It's like FAST just laid down and let MSD dethrone them of a market they used to dominate.

Am I wrong about this?

Yeah I don't get it either, we have almost no aftermarket options, while there are tons of stuff for everything else especially the Mustang.

I just don't get how everything can remain so expensive, especially some of these exhaust systems

They will probably evolve. I have a FAST system on one of my Gen2 LT1. Then they moved to LS.

The ONLY way it wouldn't happen is if it is too low a volume to support the R&D.

This is why we are stuck with zero/limited options on the rear ends. Not enough cars, let alone interest, to come up with a new setup.

i spoke with several vendors at PRI about LTx aftermarket. none of them expressed interest in such. citing that it won’t be around long enough to recoup the excessive r&d to make products. the holley rep explicitly said there would be no hi-ram for an LTx passenger car. the whole ordeal was disappointing.

the copo camaro chassis only was kinda cool, though.

Are the high rams currently being used LS units with adapter plates or something?

No high ram fits any production vehicle besides maybe a truck without extensive modification.

Holley definitely makes a High Ram for LTx motors though.

I can't blame them to be honest. There's a strong chance that after the debut of the C8 Z06, the days of pushrod engines may be numbered. It all depends on how much of a success that engine is. There's always a place for pushrod engines, as they have stood the test of time against tough opponents like the Coyote engine but, technology and engineering certainly has it's threshold; hence the swap to a mid engine platform for the Corvette.

It's a smart move on the part of those companies. With the LS (L##, too), they have a super wide swath of cars that they could develop for and recoup their money on. GM should have gone with port and direct injection on these cars. I think it would have made them much more popular to enthusiasts.

My guess is when MSD came to the market they took a lot of market share from Fast, so they folded their hand. I doubt you could design a intake manifold that clears the C7/6g without cutting that will do anything better then a MSD anyway.

I think once everyone realizes there won't be an aftermarket or modding to newer cars, then we will see development. The electric/driverless/ban internal combustion engine car fantasy had started people will be forced to mod older cars, by then there probably won't be any interest in modding besides stupid custom colors or graphics and the industry will die. I can honestly see the do gooders "banning" any form of racing activity, unfortunately this is what the world has come to and it's a dark future.

If you think about it...... the days of modding cars at all is slowly dwindling.... Dealers want you bringing cars back to their service departments to be worked on.... Making a shit ton of power is MUCH harder with all the computer controls on these cars...

The basic structure of tuning is still there... A/F ratios, and idle speed/coolant temp lookup tables.....

But its WAAAAY beyond the old shadetree mechanics that could tune their shit in their own yard..

That being said I had an LT1 in my camaro (the 1993-1997) short as hell run.... And those motors are well into the 8's.... But the aftermarket had us..Even for that short of a run.....

Agreed...also cars make alot more power and are more optimized from the factory these days. So that limits aftermarket potential.
