Porsche is a POS!
You gotta spend $35k more for a Porsche to almost get Corvette performance.

And I would in a heart beat if I had the extra money. There is more to a car and driving experience than performance numbers alone.
That said, the ME Vette has put Porsche on notice, it is THAT good.

did you read the article or just look at the acceleration numbers?
The 911 won that comparison, not taking price into consideration. "The Corvette makes you feel like you're in a supercar, the 911 makes you feel like you're part of a supercar." the 911 ran faster lap times, faster figure 8's, had better balance and was easier to drive at the limit. I would take the 911 personally if somebody were handing me keys to one of those two cars. Would I spend 50% more? Probably not - but I would know the 911 is a better car and I would be buying the C8 based on value. Which has always been the case between these two cars hasn't it? |

I’m a died in the wool traditional Corvette fan. I’m in a Corvette family and the Vette and my Mom were born the same year. We were all livid when it was confirmed to go mid-engine with no manual transmission.
Having said all that, everything I’ve read about the 8th gen is that it’s a game changer. If it makes Porsche, Lamborghini, and of course Ferrari take note that you can in fact have a car with their levels of precision, feel, and yes performance numbers for a third or less of the price? I can live with that. Never selling my Mom’s 2016 Stingray anyways. |

I will definitely purchase a Corvette over the porsche.
They have their followers, I am just not one. All I see is a hot rod version of a V W. Styling wise they look like potatoes with wheels, not bashing, just my opinion. |

I hope the C8 gets there (with the faster versions since reviews of the regular C8 haven't all been stellar with some pointing out a LOT of understeer - probably thanks for Lawyers...) though. I'm still interested in the C8 but will be skipping the base/Z51 for sure.

Porsche has never interested me one bit. From the looks to the sound, I've just never grown to like them. I would never choose one over a C8 simply because they don't excite me.

I owned a 996 generation 911 - didn't like it all that much - it was actually a bit too driver involved for me as a general use street car. It would be an amazing track tool, however - but I sadly never got it out there. It was also down on power - I think I would enjoy the 996 turbo a lot more, and they are reasonable in pricing but for the same $ you can get a C6 Z06 today, which is a much faster car - so that's a tough call.
But the 2011+ models are really refined and such high quality cars. I have a 2013 Panamera S and it's an absolutely wonderful sports sedan that rivals the best from Aston Martin or other similar cars and completely blows away the standard german sedans from BMW, Mercedes and Audi. So you almost have to compare the 911 to higher end super-cars more so than a Corvette. IMHO. Don't get me wrong - I've owned 4 Corvettes and they are fantastic sports cars for the money and very fast. But they are simply not in the league of a Porsche - bottom line. Which is why the Porsche is an entirely different price point. The Panamera price points are in the $100-180K range depending on model. And yes you can go faster in a CTSV for 1/2 that. But that really isn't the point or the competition for Porsche in that segment either. |

You can't compare the Porsche experience to numbers on a spreadsheet.
There are many intangibles that go into a P-Car verus anything that GM has. I LOVE my SS 1LE, however if I had the funds, I would be in a GT3 RS without a second thought. Even a standard GT3 would get me out of the SS 1LE without much thought. I encourage you to go to one of Porsche's "Porsche Experience" classes.

POS would be no way to describe a Porsche.

I'll take a Porsche any day over a Corvette and I like both. Porsche was my 1st "dream car," dating back to the 1st grade/80's

Yeh...I read it.... Second Place: Porsche 911 Carrera S The winningest model in Best Driver's Car history maintains its standing as the better sports car, but just barely. As a complete package, it's found wanting. First Place: Chevrolet Corvette Z51 No excuses, no compromises. The long-awaited mid-engine Corvette isn't perfect, but it's damn sure close enough. |
