Camaro V6 1LE vs. Nissan 370z NISMO

370z has a little more power and higher redline. That's about it though, gets crushed on every other performance metric and has worse interior space.

I'm actually really surprised they still sell new 370z's, it's ancient.

Some prefer the smaller size of the Z and its overall look.

A year ago when I wasn't even considering a Camaro the Z was my first choice.

First of all, thank you for starting a thread that has no mustangs in it and second, I would like to see this H2H, would be interesting and should be pretty evenly matched as far as intent.

I too was considering a 370Z when I got my Gen 5 SS.

I actually cross over from a 370Z...it was a good car. Great handling, nice power, and beautiful car to look at. It was one of the cars that you look back at when you walk away from it just so you can be in a state of awe. Reason I crossed from the 370 to the Camaro SS, is the backseat. The 370 is only a 2 door car and finally had my first child. Still wanted a sports car with backseat so my daughter could ride with me. Out of all the sports cars out, I gravitated to the Camaro because of the looks and power. If I have another child, I’ll have to say bye bye to the Camaro and look for a Jeep SRT or maybe the BMW M5...verdict is still out though

The Z's are crazy outdated, but dirt cheap now considering it's the same shit for almost two decades. Their cult like following definitely helps them stay alive. As far as the matchup is concerned I'd say it's a drivers race on the strip. Both are mid 13 second cars.

Like others here, I was cross-shopping the Camaro RS I ended up with and the 370Z. Came down to $$$; the Camaro is just a better value, period. I wouldn't kick the 370 out of bed for eating crackers, though.

The whole VQ/VR engine series are ancient; Had a VQ30 in my nissan maxima 18 years ago. Surprised they haven't started using the FI engines in the G-series for the Maxima/Z-car.

I went from an '06 350z to a '91 300ZX Twin Turbo to my '17 Camaro SS. Overall, the 350z was a disappointment, especially compared to the 300ZX. I wish Nissan would have just continued updating the 300ZX instead of moving to the 350/370 platform. That twin turbo engine is just a monster, with so much upgrade potential, and with upgraded suspension parts my '91 is a great sports car. My son drives it now, and I'm glad it's still in the family. One of these days, I'd like to get the '91 to an Autocross course same day that I bring my SS. Not sure which one is faster...both are fun to drive though!

370z A7 would murder a V6 Camaro in a drag race. Might even do so on a road course. It’s a very planted, wide car with enough power to get stupid on you. I personally don’t like the manual, its clunky, vibrates, rattles you name it. Auto all day, slap an oil cooler on it and your golden. However I wouldn’t want one as a daily for a long list of reasons. I too own a 300zx and think it’s worlds better as a car then the 350/370. Camaro v6 just feels lazy, as a fun car toy like I’d consider the Z’s, but yes it shines in many other places.

I'm a big Z car fan. I have a 240Z that I've owned for close to 30 years. But the Camaro V6 1LE obliterates the 370Z. In the Car and Driver's Lightning Laps at VIR, the 1LE was 8 seconds a lap faster! That's just a completely different league.

I like the Nismo Z, ride is too harsh though. The Camaros have a great ride/handling balance.

I heard a 370Z successor was developed with the Q60's twin turbo V6 but Nissan cancelled it.

I too was looking at the 370Z Nismo before going to the SS 1LE. For the same price as my Camaro i just couldn't pull the trigger on the Z. Now, if the Z had an extra 120hp and updated interior...

I crossed over from 370z to camaro SS. There was no way I would've chosen a v6 camaro over a z sport. That said. The SS with magnaride proved to be a great step up. It even outperformed the New Q60 redsport in my opinion.

But a v6 1le performs about as good as a Z. But for me. The mass reduction is a reason to stay in a Z unless you're going full blown SS.
