Hey

Yep, found it out when I looked up difference between dexos 1 and 2..... u can use any other brand u want with dexos 1 label cause that's the one mainly for sale here..... they can't void warranty cause others meet or exceed their oil.... full synthetic Mobil 1 it is, pfft to ac delco blend

Selection of oil is way overblown, and everyone tends to overthink it. The Ac delco blend is equivalent to the 100’s of oils avail at any Walmart, and the true syn oils like Mobil 1 are also avail there.

Choose a solid syn oil that is 5w-30, change it on a regular basis or follow the oil minder and forget about oil problems.

Hey

Master mechanic at dealership will probably say ac delco blend is the way to go for longest life.... so ac delco blend is better than Mobil 1 or pennzoil full synthetic, yea right....

I use Pennzoil Synthetic Blend (as recommended in the manual) every 5,000 miles. Fifth change coming up very soon. No problems.

With 2013 didn't they have different engine than lt1 though? My manual says dexos 1 synthetic blend by ac delco is recommended but I prefer full syn but they did blend at factory fill, not much I can do now...

Anyone planning on trying different weights? Mobil 1 has 0w30 for "advanced fuel economy" and 0w40 "eurpoean car formula." I'd like to switch the the 0w40 but it is not listed as dexos approved. The 0w30 is dexos approved.

Castrol has a 0w40 and 0w30 that are both dexos approved but the 0w40 is dexos 2. Apparently dexos1 is approved for gasoline engines and dexos2 is approved for light duty diesel engines. I'm not sure how strict GM. Do they only want dexos1 in these engines?

Follow what your manual says and you can't go wrong. Sadly, non-compliance with factory or manufacturer's recommendations could lead to a voided warranty in the future if something you did caused a failure.

Different engine - yes. Same recommended oil:

Engine oil meeting the dexos1
specification of the proper SAE viscosity
grade. AC Delco dexos1 Synthetic Blend is recommended.

When it states "AC Delco dexos 1", it is not so much referring to a type of oil made by AC Delco but, rather, a quality specification. Dexos 1 has become an industry quality standard that many oil manufacturers offer... Mobile1, Pennzoil, etc. So long as it states "Dexos1" somewhere on the manufacturer's label it is acceptable for use with your engine.
