Can I re-use my current winter tires?
Heya folks ... I've got a set of 235/55 R-18 winter tires on rims for my current 2011 Dodge Charger.
I know I'd have to switch out the rims, but could I make those tires fit my new 2018 2SS Camaro? I searched on tirerack.com and they list a 235/50 R-18 on 8" rims as an "Alternate" option ... Not sure if that helps me or not to know that, but it seems much closer than I'd seen anywhere else that the 235/55's might work. Thanks in advance

As per many experts, you need to stay within +/-3% of differences in dimensions.
Your actual winter tires are at -1.9% at the moment. So just watch out your speed (cause you will go going 1.9% slower than what your speedo reads). I'd have no problem running those tires.

As I do more reading, I learn so much more ... I'm not really a "car" person so I appreciate the help this forum has given so far, and yet ... back with another few questions:
With the 235/55 R-18 winter tires I have: 1) Would I be better off with an 8" or an 8.5" rim? I know it fits both, just not sure if there is a benefit to either for winter tires ... or if one or the other would work better on the SS Camaro with MRC. 2) Depending on the answer above, what offset (or offset range) would be best for me to get, to ensure I clear brakes, fender, suspension etc.? 3) Anything else I should look at when getting rims? 4) And lastly, does anyone have a recommendation on where I can get the rims I need, in Canada, at a relatively decent price? (I'm just assuming I can find them cheaper SOMEWHERE other than at the dealership) Thanks again for the help.

I'm confused with the same thing.
235/55/18 with ET35 RIMS. Will they work fine for 6gen? |
