Uniden R3 visor or headliner mounting ideas for 2017 convertible

I'm thinking about getting a new radar and the Uniden R3 looks really nice.

I did not want to use the windshield suction cup that comes with it, or the blendmount that hangs under the rearview mirror.

Has anyone found a way to mount it cleanly to the visor or a clip that will let it push under the headliner?

I found this one at amazon that people say will work with some slight modification. LINK

any ideas or suggestions welcome !

thanks!

I have these in my Camaro and GMC Canyon.

They mount to the top of the windshield and work really well and are inexpensive. I do not have a convertible, but assume this would work well for your situation.

Thank you for that link! That looks like a great alternative to the headliner/visor mount.

Have you had to remove one? was it a pain?

No, not yet. It is so small, if the detector is not mounted to it, it is barely noticeable. I would imagine you would ruin the double sided 3M tape, and have some sticky stuff to remove from the windshield, and then buy some more double sided tape for remounting.

I was pretty anal about installing it in the right position. I placed some masking tape on the windshield to give me some guidance after dry fitting and to help keep it straight. I also kept it as high as possible so it didn't obscure my vision.

BTW, these are a much more solid way to mount the R3 compared to the suction cups that come with the detector.

cool cool - thanks again. I just purchased one of those.

I know exactly what you mean by being anal about the positioning. Even installing my toll tag stressed me out lol. I will try the masking tape to help too
