You can't right now if you want your order to accepted by GM workbench. If you try and submit an order it will rejected due to a "long term hold" on the RVK option. But no I have been able to get into contact with at GM or my dealership has any info on what that means exactly except that it may be a parts supplier issue. The thing is it is still listed on GM accessories for the 6th gens up to 2020 6.2Ls but it just stops there. It is no longer listed for the 2021s at all and so far you can't order it for the 2022. So everyone is screwed out of a numbers matching car and the "just wait" option isn't really realistic because no one at GM is giving any info on if it will ever be available.

Grumpy Uncle, hope it's just additional info and you aren't after a "numbers matching" car, because if you are, I'm afraid you're in for a nasty surprise.

Our 2SS trims probably won't be worth jack later on, maybe your 1LE package would pull a tiny bit more, but it isn't the big dog. It won't be worth much unless only a couple hundred are left, which is unlikely, given how many were, and are still, produced. Then again, the nice thing about the future is how unpredictable it is

Oh no I'm not worried about a numbers matching car. I was just following up on hotlap's comment. I have the plan of never selling this car mostly because it will at this point probably be one of the last V8's and because i know I'm going to be in love with it. I wish I'd never sold my 67 mustang and hope to one day find it and get it back. it was hit by an uninsured driver and I was younger and didn't have the money to fix. I kept it in a storage facility for like 3 years though with the hopes of fixing before I finally just had to let it go.

Why not K&N?

Hey, just reading through this as I’m looking for a CAI for my 2016 SS. Why didn’t you consider the K&N system? It dyno’s higher than the GM one and I don’t think any tune is needed. The clear view on the GM one looks great but its like 10 hp more with the K&N one. What am I missing? Thanks for your thoughts!

I actually went and talked to my dealership's parts department today and they are already pulling the line that if I put an aftermarket intake other than the GM one it's gonna void the warranty. FFS.

That’s crazy - simple swap out back to OEM parts before taking it to the shop! Mine already out of warranty so think I’m going with the K&N. Appreciate the input!

Without a tune, I would be curious if the increased horsepower lasts. I wouldn't be surprised that K&N just runs the car immediately after the intake is installed to take advantage of that fact.

What tends to happen, from my understanding, is that an aftermarket intake will lean out the AF mixture a bit, which temporarily will give you a bit of power. The O2 sensor will eventually pick up on this, however, and you will just get back to near-stock power as the ECU figures out the new steady-state mixture.

And you can also throw off the MAF reading(which goes in hand with the mixture point before). And K&N is known to not filter as well as other filters out there. And you have to mess around with intake oil.

Honestly, I didn't really want to bother with an intake in the first place. I only got it because, again, eye candy, but if I get one, I may as well get the one that will have no fuss with possible warranty issues, especially considering I track the car.

I just bought 21’ LT1. Subtext bought all Chevy Perfromance exhaust and CAI to keep it warranty tidy. I tried to get a 21’ GM performance intake. Couldn’t find or get one. I figure they hadn’t released, or held up with CV19, so I bought the 20’ unit.

I haven’t installed it. Honestly the gains sound tiny, marginal, if any. The remap and lack of disclosure on what it does. Emissions, performance, just mystery, no one knows conclusively. Medium on motivated to do it.

When I called dealer to inquire about repmap, they were like huh? After I explained they looked into it: If was 20’ MY they can, 21’ MY, nope.

From 21’ on, unless built from factory, no longer emissions legal it seems.

Gov leadership and EPA have made even CARB passed/compliant CAI illegal in California. : (

The good news the CAI I bought has a CARB sticker so I can pass SMOG but technically my car is out of warranty if I install it, and illegal. Ridiculous.

The 2021 LT1 I bought off the lot this weekend has this option installed. I couldn't drive it home Sunday because it had a TSB open for something related to the intake and had to be done before delivery (plus one for an update for the uplevel infotainment). I believe it was a tune download.

Are there threads about issues or something with the tune that goes with the intake? I don't know the back story on this. It looks great though!

Is there info about care of the filter? Is it a washable one? Or replaceable? Was there supposed to be some sort of "manual" for it?

Thanks guys.

Yeah there is a tsb/recall concerning the required flash to the ecu to comply with emissions in order for it to be 50 state legal. The tune is actually a good thing according to people who have had it done though. Apparently it really helps with throttle response and gets the most out of the intake.

We think that may be part of the reason why the part is currently not available to order as a GM accessory or as a part of a 2022 build right now. But it is all speculation. I got an email reply from gmsocial today saying they have no idea about that part and blah blah blah talk to my dealer. Well the dealers don't know anything either except its on long term hold.

I live in California. I really want to get the GMPP before it somehow goes away. I’m probably just paranoid but I wouldn’t doubt if California will soon no longer allow it.

The other concern is IF I find one for sale, will I a)be successful getting the tune at the dealer? and b) is this tsb actually beneficial or does it dumb down what the original tune provided?

I just find it hard to believe that this tsb will provide a benefit. I find it more likely that CARB is forcing manufacturers to restrict gains in the spirit of lower emissions.

More air equals more fuel equals more pollution and CARB doesn’t like that.

Nah. The tsb was issued because people were not coming in and getting the tune done to comply so GM issued it to cover their ass apparently. The tune hasn't changed. Some websites that did sell it say that it is only going to be available in the future directly from GM possibly only from the factory as part of the build. Again it's all speculation, no one knows for sure because GM isnt talking. I've been checking with my dealerships parts department regularly to see if anything has changed with it because like you if it does come available I'm buying before they change their minds again or some asshat at the epa decides that they are not compliant anymore. They still are on long term hold and can't be added to 2022 orders. I know that because I just talked to my dealership's sales manager today while I was up there about it. Not that I could change my build anyway its at 3000 status.

Since you have a 2020 you should be able to order it from ShopChevyParts.com (for $393.75) and have the flash done for free from your local dealer (the code you need is on the front of the installation manual), the dealer will get paid and the cost of the flash is included in the cost of the intake from ShopChevyParts.com...
