Just realized we have LATCH

Occasionally I have to take both of my daughters in the SS, and I never noticed the latch straps because you have to pull the fabric back to access them, but this is so much more convenient than fiddling with the seatbelts, especially when you have to have two seats back there.

I thought that was a federal requirement for the last 20 years

Correct, federal mandate.
Glad to see someone else tossing their kids in the car.
My SS 1LE is my daily, so my wife, and both of our boys ride with us (age 3 and 6, both forward facing). They love the power, and love rippin' through round-abouts.

That makes sense that it's mandated and the engineers weren't specifically thinking about kid friendly functions!

And yes, they love it - it's a lot of fun to see my 3.5 year old light up when we drive. I dropped her off at school the other day and heard her say "we took the Camaro today. It's really fast and has 4 (exhaust) pipes."

I also know that if I wasn't willing to contort my body to periodically get them back there my wife would put her foot down on getting something more "family friendly" so I will make it work as much as I can!

Yep, the Camaro is now the family car for me. No LATCH or anchors in the Miata sadly.
