Valve Lifter Oil Control Solenoid
Hi all! My 2016 2LT RS's check engine light came on yesterday, I dropped it off at the shop this morning so they could figure out what was going on.
Apparently the code was P3400 and it needs 2 new "valve lifter oil control solenoids" according to the service guy at the dealership. He quoted me $1100 (parts+labor) for these two parts which apparently also take 6 hours to install. I'm just curious if this price seems reasonable or if anyone has any more details on these particular parts? All of the "oil control solenoids" I find online are only like $35-$100, but I'm not a big engine guy so I really have no idea what I'm looking at or for. Any advice would be appreciated!

Seems a little high to me but it is likely a few hours of labor. A lot of parts have to come off the top of the engine to get to the solenoids.

Thanks! I don't mind paying for necessary services, just wanted to be sure I wasn't getting screwed over too badly; if it takes a few hours of work I suppose the quote I was given is reasonable.

Not sure if you're taking it to the dealership or not, but they are the last place I'd go if I was out of warranty.
