Question Bowtie Question

My Camaro is now one week old, windows tinted yesterday and spoiler & stripe going on this week.

Question for you all - I really want to change out the bowties to either CGM or black....help....where do I shop for these? What is my best options I have read about sticker, but I don't think those would hold up in the AZ heat. I would love any tips or links as to where to shop for these. Thank you all for your help!!

My husband is starting to think he created a monster. He's going to love when packages start showing up for the Camaro! LOL!

lol glad to see you are on the Addicted to modding your car as we are =D. As for the bowtie inserts, I believe you can purchase OEM BLACK and CHROME inserts. As to where, im not sure exactly. But many places sell them.

you could do like I did, and go buy a 5 oz can of spray paint AT HTE DEALER, its only $12.95....AND you never have to take the bowties off the car...take the time, scuff up the gold part with a "greenie" then tape off the chrome part. use some newpaper to mask off the area around it. paint it using light, multiple, layers and you will have a great bowtie that looks factory. Although mine are IOM, its the same process.

Garys Customs did mine, painted, direct replacement bowtie. took about 5 minutes to do the front, rear takes a bit longer and is more of a process

Thank you everyone for the help! I am almost wondering if when they paint my spoiler this week if they could do the bowties then to? I will have to call tomorrow and check it out.

Here are a couple new photos of the car with the newly tinted windows -

If you want a cheap option on the bowties, go with the painting, or head up to walmart or a hobby lobby or something similar, you can find some cheap flat black adhesive vinyl. All you need for that is a hairdryer, an exacto knife and about 15-30 minutes of your time. there are videos on doing it, I did mine, you just cut the vinyl a little larger than the bowtie, stretch it over, using the hairdryer to get a smooth fit and the wrinkles out. Once you are satisfied, run your fingernail along the edge to get the imprint between the gold and chrome, and than exacto knife it, just take it nice and easy being sure to cut all the way through, than peel the excess off slowly. I like how mine look, and they've been standing up well to weather and such, just make sure the vinyl is suitable for exterior uses

You can also get vinyl sample from a sign shop. Clean your front bowtie really well, dry it off, take a square of the vinyl and stretch it tight and smooth over the bowtie. Then you can take an exacto knife and cut it along the grooves where the chrome meets the colored part of the bowtie. Cut lightly. This is a good way to pick a color without much commitment also.

Getting the wrinkles out is tedious.

Any paint and body shop can paint the Bowties, if you elect to have someone do it. i went with a sticker at first, then I removed the front bowtie, and now I am installing Carbon Fiber Bowties. For me as many times as I wash this car, the stickers werent holding up. Yes you can do it yourself as well. I was never real happy with the stickers or vinyl because I could always find something wrong with them. Some people on this forum have made it work real well.
