From GT350 to SS

Hello, everyone,

I traded my beloved 2018 GT350 for a 2017 Camaro 2SS. I did it to get rid of debt and to have an actual daily car that I am not worried to drive everywhere.

I am very impressed with how Camaro drives. I expected it to be a major downgrade but it's pretty comparable. It's as fast but does not handle as well. It also does not sound as good. But the interior quality and the overall built quality seems better.

I have few questions about the Camaro.

1. When I want to blip the throttle or when I am downshifting, the throttle response is intermittently delayed. Is that normal?

2. What is the best exhaust modification I can do to increase the exhaust volume and increase the pops and crackles?

3. Any must have mods I need to consider? The Camaro I bought is bone stock.

Thanks in advance.

i installed a Soler throttle body and it took care of all the off idle throttle issues like the delay/lag you mentioned.

Congrats on the new ride.

1. Yes common issue. Some have had luck with tune and or tb.
2 borla and corsa seem to be popular. Tune also can help with crackle and pop.
3 ppv, clear bra, rock guards, Catch can, skip shift eliminator.

Congrats!

Nice GT350.

Is your Camaro manual or auto?

Given that you had a GT350, I’m surprised that you didn’t go with a 1LE.

Enjoy your 2SS!

The Soler Performance throttle body and controller for the responsiveness.
And AWE for the exhaust is another option quit of few of us on here are happy with. Enjoy the new ride

Congratulations and welcome to the Camaro forum and club! Your SS will never sound like the GT 350 you had though as Ford does have one up on Chevy about the difference in exhaust sound. Enjoy your SS!

Interesting you think it will be a better DD. I'm thinking of trading my mustang gt for an SS or scat pack. The only things on the camaro that have me a little worried is the seat comfort on longer trips and the trunk space. Probably not too big of issues though as I'm currently single and don't take too many long drives.

There has been lots of 350 owners who have traded in for either a SLE, ZL1, or even a Z06. So I am a bit surprised to see someone go to a standard SS. Not that anything is wrong with the SS. I would just think that you would want something either higher performing or better handling. Anyway, everyone who has come over to a Camaro from a 350 has been very happy with the switch.

1. Use the auto rev match
2. Muffler delete
3. See #2 and 1LE wheels and tires
As the others said, surprised you didn't go with a 1LE, but putting the wheels and tires on there will give you the majority of the 1LE's handling advantage.

Yep, once he adds the wheels and tires he will see the light. Can't compare a Camaro on 245-275s to a Mustang on 295-305s.

OP, I speak from experience - the 1LE wheels and tires completely transform the car.

The 285/305 1LE sizes will be pretty much spot on in terms of similar handling with the 350.

As others have said.. shocking you didn't go 1LE route considering it would be the comparable vehicle. As far as exhaust, pull the fuse if you want the baffles open all the time, and consider secondary cat delete for cost effective options. Unless you go full catback I don't think you get too much more out of an axleback. Stock unit in Track setting is pretty loud.

You can add the 1LE sway bars and handling links that will get some better handling. Wider tires are a must. Tune and ported tb. For exhaust I got rid of my secondary cats and helped with pops and got a little bit louder but not much.
