I did not have to pull the front clip. I cranked the wheel full right and then removed 4 torx screws (# 15) from the inner fender liner and then unplugged and removed the side marker light. You access 4 of the 6 clips this way. The other 2 are accessed right thru the opening in the front.

This is a pretty old thread now, but wanted to ask.....
Are the facia's exactly the same on the ZL1 and the ZL1 1LE. If I don't have to buy and paint a new facia, that is a huge savings for this build. Also, I'm guessing the best way to install all the bits would be to remove the facia (actually, I'm pretty sure it's required). Thanks all. |

They are the same minus you having to cut the holes for kanards/dive planes the slot etch marks are on the inside of the fascia still as far as I know. Can be done on the car if you can find a template that was once used before gm added the marks.

I am pretty sure they are somewhat different because of 1) the different front splitter attachment, 2) the lower DRL housing vs the extra vent cover on the 1LE, and 3) the canards.
Now, can one hack up their existing front bumper to fit, probably, but they are definitely not the same (see also the screenshot below).

Thanks for the info. I know guys have cut the ZL1 cover for the canard, but it is clearly a different part #. What to do...? Paint is expensive!

Previous owner of mine did this and i actually want to revert back to the standard zl1. I've debated repairing the holes vs buying a new bumper..... I'm gonna have to paint either way.
If you buy a new lower lip do they come in gloss back already? |

99% of these parts are paint-to-match, unfortunately. The exceptions I know about is the standard ZL1 spoiler and ground effects kits that come pre-painted, with multiple color options.

Are you saying gm is charging $230 extra for the 4 canard holes? That'd be... visionary, but definitely not unthinkable

That's exactly what I'm saying! There was never any chopping or cutting for the bezels, grill, or splitter actually they are charging 230 for 6 slots/holes there 1 on each side on the bottom for the splitter winglets that slide through the fascia and use the plastic tabs to hold it. 3 screws in the wingless that go into the splitter and 1 hole/slot in fascia.
