Engine fires and Ford go together. Most of the 80's I was a field insurance claims adjuster. I handled many engine fires. At least 80% of them were Fords (mostly pickup trucks). Back then the reasons were fuel line ruptures or sticking carburetor floats and less often faulty wiring. Since then I've read about Ford engine fires on and off through the years after the 80's. it looks like a leaking oil filter is a new way to do it.

It still sucks for the owner and I'm glad it looks like he made out OK in the end for an acceptable settlement.

I'm surprised Ford didn't balk at settling because it happened on a race track.

Too high profile case. If it were any other Joe Shmo, may have been different outcome. But I don’t know. Does Ford warranty cover track related issues?

Had my F150 catch fire coming home one Sunday from up north snowmobiling. Had to quickly disconnect my snowmobile trailer from the truck and get it out of the way. Didn't give a crap about the truck, didn't want my sleds to burn.

I love snowmobiling. I had a 800 RMK that I would trailer up to Truckee/Tahoe area almost every weekend in the winters.

Got to be too expensive though, $250/weekend and only got to ride 4 mths out of the year and you were always praying for good powder. That and 6-8 hours of Tahoe traffic from the Bay Area is brutal.

That's why you should abandon the Bay Area and relocate to Folsom or El Dorado Hills. 😉

This post reminded me of mine. Mine never caught on fire though but had some other problems. One of the best cars out there though. You have to appreciate what Ford did with the GT350.

From what I've seen, Ford has taken care of all of them....eventually. Took a friend of mine two months to get his motor replaced. Traded it the next day.

If working from home becomes the new norm and is more widespread adapted, leaving the Bay Area might be in the cards.

Although, I would head back too Bend, OR. Miss Central Oregon

Expenses go with snowmobiling. I spend 5k before the sled even hits the trail. But I don't care, I love it, and will never give it up. Northern VT and Quebec never disappoint for snow cover.

For sure, and I do miss it. I just need to live closer to riding areas. 12 hours of driving every weekend to get there does it old, especially when you are getting up at 2am to meet up with the group at 8am. I did it for 8 years, I just can't do that anymore. Age catches up to ya, lol.

But I still have flying, that is just as fun.

Yeah, there's not enough said about the Camaro ss, and 1le warranty coverage extending to track use. If the posting incident happened to me on the track, after the fire was out the first thing i would wonder is who is paying? Me, insurance or Ford. Actually, now that i think about, would track insurance cover this?
