Hi Martin, the mount for the back camera looks pretty need. Where did you get it from? Thx in advance!

I had the whole set installed at a car audio installer. They made the little bracket.

Had to post this. This is one of the reasons I have a dashcam. Stupid people. No sound on the video. These two future rocket surgeons decided to try to time my car as they crossed the street. Keep in mind there is NOBODY behind me. I wound up slowing down from 40 to 17 mph and blowing the horn before they stopped. Then they had the nerve to get mad.

Would anyone be willing to share their wire routing? I am expecting a delivery of a blackvue this weekend and was curious on how you ran the wires for front and rear and where you hid, and tapped for power.

Cheers!

I have a Blackvue DR-750S 2CH and installed it myself. Since I didn't want to go to the engine bay fuse box through the firewall or have any wiring visible when opening the passenger door, I decided to use the trunk. Routed the rear cam hookup cable under the headliner on the driver side, all the way to the top center of the rear windshield, while the power cable is routed on the passenger side, first under the headliner, then behind the C pillar trim piece, down into the battery compartment via a suitable opening at the bottom of the pillar (I used a rigid plastic stick and attached the cable with painter's tape to guide it in), finally down into the trunk where the fuse box is. Having no idea whether this would actually be feasible, I had used a wireless endoscope camera to discover the area first.

Since I didn't want too much excess wire in the trunk, I started routing the power cable from there, but if I did it again, I would try to start from the front cam, because the way I did it there is about a foot and a half of excess that I had to tuck under the headliner close to the front cam.

The PowerMagic Pro box is attached to the frame under the trunk liner using double-sided sticky tape, and I also sheathed all wiring in the trunk area with a braided sleeve + adhesive fabric wire tape for improved looks and just in case water ever leaks in.

Here are two pictures of my wiring into the trunk fuse box:

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=35. The bolt I used for grounding is a bit too large for the wire lug on the ground wire that comes with the camera, so I broadened the lug opening it a bit before bolting it down.

I'm not saying these two fuses I used for constant and switched 12V are the definitive or recommended choices, but it has worked for me since April without any errors.

Overall, this was a relatively easy install, and without trying to toot my own horn, it looks near OEM, nothing is exposed anywhere, the braided wiring is a perfect match, the only telltale sign is the fuse taps when one opens the fuse box, of course. I can take more pictures and post them tomorrow if you are uncertain about any of this.

Hope you get your package soon, have fun installing the dash cam

There's A LOT of review sites out there for these things so I won't argue with anyone on specific brands.

Main features you want are:
Battery Backup Power
Memory Card Slot
Impact Sensor
Front and Rear Cameras
Sound Recording
Bluetooth or WiFi connectivity to phone so you can view videos easily for instance if you think you were hit.

I like my Viofo A119, it does 1440 resolution, under $100.

Thank you. Was thinking of the same routing. Interesting... they shipped it with the OBD connector which in theory eliminates the wiring to the fuse box, but I hate to have something plugged into the obd all the time. In my 5th gen I had my aero force gauges but haven’t decided to add them yet and hate to have to reroute.....

Not sure.

I haven't installed a dash cam, but I have ran wires inside from the engine compartment. From the fuse box I installed a fuse tap and whittled out a little notch in the fuse box and cover to run the wire through with my dremel. From there I used some split-loom tubing to run the wire around the passenger side of the engine compartment to the lower rubber stopped hole near the passenger side door hinge. From there it's pretty simple to run it behind the threshold trim piece and up through the passenger side window pedestal.

Another option is to tap power off the dome light.

So you used F17 Camera as you always on source?

Did you run the wire from the front under the headliner to the back or down the front pillar?

Rexing is the way I went and I really love the quality of the cam, the sound is great and with the Timacam app on my iPhone it allows me to control it and do what I need for it to do.

Sorry for the late reply, for some reason I didn't see your response earlier

Yes, I used F17 for the battery and F23 for the accessory hookup, same rating for the additional fuses as the originals. The front to back camera connection wire runs under the headliner all the way on the driver side, I didn't use the A pillar. The power cable also runs under the headliner, but on the passenger side, then down the C pillar into the trunk. No wiring is visible except for the last two inches or so in front and the last half inch for the rear cam.
