If anyone else happens to encounter this issue, there is an HMI software update to address it. The update required for this screen / condition is bulletin 17-NA-025. This is an HMI software issue and this fix will take care of it. For what it is worth, the screen will time out on it's own but it takes 80 minutes so most aren't inclined to wait that long. The battery pull will reset it but it will likely come back.

My 7" screen was dead when I started the car up tonight, but did not get any messages. The back-lighting for the controls was off too. No radio, no back-up camera. Dead. I shut the car off and restarted, but it was still dead. After driving a few miles, the screen came back on as normal. No message. I did not try the radio, etc, but assume they will work.

i'm having the same exact issue. i guess i'll unplug the negative cable for the night and pray it works. i really don't want to take my car to the dealer.

i have tried the following
1. unpluged all USB and cables
2. remove fuse from trunk and reinsert
3. disconnect the battery for 10 minutes.

Having issue

The dealer wants $1200 to replace the module, but I think it's a software issue outlined here...

Exact same screen I'm getting. Says less than an hour of labor. I'm contacting GM about it.
