Shifting issue

Does anyone have a issue with putting the car in 1st gear for example while at a red light then trying to put the car in gear acts like it doesn’t want to go in, Also the reverse will do the same thing. anyone else have the issue with this? This is on a 6mt of course

I sometimes have that issue, feels a little rough, but from all the manual cars I have had it’s been almost a norm thing from time to time.

I have a M6 and when I first purchased it the shiftier was really stiff and didn't like moving freely into gear but after some miles it freed up. I do still have some trouble getting it into 2nd sometimes (even with changing the fluid out) and it will grind the gears but as for 1st and reverse it goes in easy every time and well as the other gears. I think mine could use some work on the 2nd gear synchronizer but I really don't want anyone messing with it, as for yours I would say from what your describing it needs more attention and it's something you should talk to the dealer about. I could be wrong but I think 1st and reverse share the same gear which could be the problem, somethings wrong with the teeth and not allowing it to shift smoothly. Just my 2 cents!

Thanks for all the inputs guys, I also noticed that it does it even more when it’s cold outside 🤔

Only trouble I've ever had in 30+ yrs of driving with any manual transmission where going into gear was the issue has always been in cold weather.

I find mine occasionally only goes halfway into 1st and reverse, so when I try to take off it pops out of gear, just really notchy. Doesn't happen often and I'm aware that it can happen so I just push the shifter a little harder. The shifter is also notchier in the cold.

Are we talking about when it's cold or just all the time? If all the time how long have you had the clutch pushed in? At a stand still once you decouple the transmission from the engine the input shaft starts to slow down. Eventually it will stop altogether and once this happens the synchro's cant synch anything as neither "side" of the transmission is spinning. Even when the input shaft is slowly turning the engagement will be slow and difficult as you wait for the locking teeth to line up. So simply release the clutch with the transmission in neutral to spin things up and then clutch and select your gear. If it's when the unit is cold that is a well documented characteristic of this transmission type.

No issues going into gear, cold weather or otherwise. New England here, drove it yesterday.

Royal purple trans fluid will help.

Also, let the clutch out for a second while in N, to reset gear mesh.

I have a camaro ss 2018

I am having same 2nd gear issue. One the customer got it fixed and found out that is a defective transmission housing. Here is the link to the video. https://youtu.be/FxngwiF7_Wg

GM knows about it but they are telling their dealer to tell customers that it is normal. Everybody, we need to report this issue to NHTSA.gov. Here is the link for that https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/

All these camaoros have defected transmision housing which is causing multiple symtoms. For example, hard to shift to 2nd when upshift or downsift, 2nd gear popping out and shift into neutral, missing 2nd gear and sometime grinding.
I spoke to 2 dealers and they both have different openion. One says that i need skip shift eliminater and the other one says that it is normal to have symtoms like that also Advised me not to use the 2nd gear. Which is bad beacuse we spent a fortune buying this car and then we are unable the use 2nd gear.

Please everybody, go NHTSA website and file a complain because they are not going to fix it until government institution files a lawsuit against GM

Yeah. Mine from time to time grinds a little when I put it into 1st gear when I first start it up. I'd say when it's cold, but if 75* outside cold, as compared to it's normal operating temperature, then yes when it's cold.
