Carbon fiber mirror covers suck Azz
I'm tired of the covers I hate how they don't cover the whole mirror. Bought the wife all black mirrors for Christmas on ebay so I took hers to use on mine. I'll pull my covers off and do another set to sell. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have them sanded and clear coated with 2k clear w hardener.
No one will ever make real replacement ones it to evolved removing the glass, taking them apart, and reusing the guts,

From what I understand, making something like this entirely out of carbon fiber is really, really hard to get right in terms of fit and finish. Carbon fiber parts deform a bit as they cool after they are manufactured.
The cost is gonna be pretty insane if you want something that won't fall off... I wouldn't be surprised if one side costs a grand if something like that got R&D'd and made.

Nicely done! Cant wait to see the finished product. That was my grip too but luckily my mirrors on the ZLE are black so its not that bad. I agree no one makes one that completely covers the entire mirror. Thats because a lot of these US vendors (not all) purchase their cf products from China (aliexpress) and rebrands them as theirs. I've ordered cf parts from one company and I've ordered them from aliexpress. Same exact stuff down to the double sided tape where you peel off the red film that says 3MM rather than just 3M

You can't just hand lay carbon fiber like its fiber glass. It has to be vacuum sealed tight with a machine when it's applied.

I just finished sanding last night thuis is with it wet w water tomorrow I'll cut excess material off where it mounted to car then I'll spray with clear.

Wow those turned out great! Weird that it’s not a factory option as it would match the wing and hood. My brother did something similar on his Silverado. He wrapped the trunk and roof w V-weave carbon. Then he proceeded to ruin it by tinting the resin too dark. You cant even tell it’s carbon unless you look at it from inches away. Apparently that’s how he wanted it but it looks the same as it did before bc the truck is black.
