ZL1 1LE Deflector on Splitter

Had anyone ever taken off either the driver or passenger side deflectors on the splitter? I can manage to get to the 2 bolts closer to the wheel by removing the wheel liner. However, the very first bolt I cannot seem to get to it the same way. Does the entire bumper need to be taken off? #24 on the image.

many times 3 bolts and 1 clip behind fender liner not shown in that pic. you can just barely make out the slot in the GM parts list!

As EDFHOBBIES said, 3 bolts (visible on the car), 1 clip (not visible) . Turn the wheels all the way to the opposite direction of the side you are working on, remove the 3 screws holding the inner fender on, bend it back and you can access the clip. its a 10 min job.

Were you guys able to reach the first bolt's washer by only folding the wheel liner? I tried yesterday and was able to reach the other 2 but not the first

It's just a clip that you squeeze the teeth together and push up or down depending which way it was stuck into the slot.

The 3 bolts are 7mm heads or torq's can't remember maybe they added dbl sided tape at some point.

Yes going though the fender liner you can undo clip.

Honestly if this is seems tough you shouldn't mess with it.

Come on, how's one supposed to learn if you say they shouldn't even try. The DIY advantage is you have a lot more time than a professional is willing to invest into this stuff.

For example, when I swapped out my paddle shifters, I tinkered for half an hour with the airbag before it came out cleanly, but who cares, it's my car and my time. Now I know how to do it. Same thing with removing the front and rear bumpers, first time I did it, I scraped up both hands real good, now I don't even flinch, etc. etc.

It's actually not the clip I am having issues with, its the first bolt (farthest away from the wheel). I can get to the clip, the other 2 bolts and their washers without issue. I may just have a different bumper or splitter cause it is physically not possible to get to the first bolt's washer via the wheel liner. There is plastic blocking it. I will have to try to access it from under the car.

The splitter has 3 square holes on each side that house the nut in photo. The 3 screws in the winglet screw into them and one clip behind the fender liner.

I replace all the rubber under the splitter and I removed some of the screws to the front of the wheel liner, but didn't have to remove the wheel. That's how I was able to get to the clips on the splitter. Be advised that I also removed a plastic tray below the engine to get the job done. I had to take the splitter off to put in that rivet joint. It wasn't hard. Entire project took under 2 hours with a lift.
