Camaro LT1

So I just recently purchased a 2021 Camaro LT1 6 speed manual, just wanted to know if the LT1 model is slightly detuned compared to the SS model, the 0-60 on the SS is 3.5 seconds however on the Lt1 model the 0-60 is 4.0 seconds.

But the 1/4 mile is still the same at 12.2 seconds.

Is this due to a detune?

Or is it due to the suspension being different?

If that's the case cant I just upgrade my suspension and get the proper performance.

Tire would need upgraded as well.

No, not detuned. Identical engine and transmission.

0-60 on the SS is also 4.0 seconds. It's the ZL1 that can (officially) do a 3.5s zero to sixty. As Staves said, the engine and the trans are the same and so is the tune.

(By the way, the difference between 4.0 and 3.5 seconds is very significant, it wouldn't be just a "slight" detune as it takes the ZL1 200 extra horses to achieve it.)

Throw some slicks or Mickey Thompson ETs on the back of that LT1 and watch your 0-60 best an SS and make a ZL1 nervous in the 1/8th mile while he plays catch up managing all that extra torque. This is assuming you can shift well, an automatic SS, ZL1, or even an LT1 will gap you even if they're on street tires if you can't launch and shift well.

The slightly slower 0-60 time is due to the rear tires size and type.
The LT1 is technically lighter than the SS which is why it still holds a very close 1/4 mile time.

LT1 has 245 all season tires
SS has 275 summer rated tires

The only thing that is detuned on the LT1 model is the speed limiter is lower because of the crappy tires. Same hp as the SS, but worse tires.

Thank you this answered my question as well as everybody else has helped thank you all, mickeys and a tune on the way.

I can shift well but I’ve never tried to launch my car or any manual car lol but I’m sure with some practice I’ll get it thanks again all.

Manual lt1 has a 3.73 lsd. Automatics all have a 2.77 open diff, I’m guessing unless it’s a 1le automatic (they now offer those) those might have a lsd and higher gear ratio I’m unsure on that.

I put some 305's on the back, 285's up front, and the LT1 just grabs and goes. Wheel spin is almost tough to achieve with this setup.

2.77 rear stock on a 10 speed auto SS or LT1, I believe the SS 1LE gets the 2.85 rear.

The LT1 and the SS both have 2.77 rear limited slip, not a open rear.
