EXHAUST QUESTIONS

I have 2"TSP headers going catless to the stock suitcase. I run my car in sport mode with the valves open. I thought the car would be way loud at idle and breaking windows at redline. Ok, it may be loud at WOT (but in my opinion, nothing that even approaches all of the adjectives I see thrown around in this forum), AND she has no presence at idle or easily going through the gears. With the valves open, isn't she pretty much straight-piped? What am I missing, here?

If I put anything in the exhaust flow, won't it make it even quieter? I really want to make her louder and more noticeable all the time. Any help and all opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Maybe pull the valve control fuse so it truly is full open all the time.

Aftermarket brands are way louder than the stock suitcase.
Way louder and it’s not even close. Listen to a ZL1 with headers, no cats and an aftermarket catback and you’ll get it LOL.

Yes the fuse pull will help. Done that with my 2018 2ss and my Current Zl1 from day 1.

Stock suitcase sounds like a tin can with marbles too with headers and no cats.

Louder is not always better. The OE is a bit raspy at times but I think the sound is ok.

I don't feel ike spending 2k for a Borla system that is really just a different tone.

I love the way mine sounds with 2 inch ARH headers, no cats and the stock suitcase! To each his own I guess.. I am older so I don't like it loud until you go WOT!

Get rid of the suitcase! With it, you don't have "straight pipes". Suggest looking at AWE track edition axleback. It gets rid of the suitcase! $900. If you want loud.....that is the one.

I would have suggested their catback system with the performance link pipes. But they don't make the PLPs anymore. In fact, if you look on their website the axleback is louder than the catback. If you want a good video on AWE's track edition, see the link. You can watch the entire video, but if you want to hear how it sounds go to 9.19 of the video and that will give you a very good representation of the exhaust. You will not be disappointed! She is giving a good comparison between the track edition catback with the PLPs and then without them. But unfortunately AWE doesn't make the PLPs anymore. They sold all of their stock to the RPM store, but they don't have anymore either. The PLPs get rid of the secondary cats. If you know of a good exhaust shop, they might be able to make them for you, if you really want them.
