2021 Camaro stereo
I have been out of the Camaro game for the last three years. Had a 2018 ZL1 and 2SS 1LE. I personally thought the Bose stereo was kind of weak. Picked up my ordered 2021 2SS 1LE yesterday. Did they do any upgrades over the last few years because I feel as if the stereo sounds better. Just wondering. Thanks.

The Bose in my 2020 2SS Vert was CRAP!

The Bose in my '17 sounded good. I would be surprised if there was much of a stereo change between the '16-'18's to the '21.

My 21 Bose sounds amazing... A bit bass heavy, easily enough EQ'd to correct that. But more than enough power, clarity and punch.

From what I understand the Bose was tweaked with the new radio version update in 2019. It is not night and day but it seems more realistic and channel seperation seems better. Subtle changes. A noticable improvement to my ears. But if you want ground shaking base and ear damaging volume the Bose is not for you. Go aftermarket.

Thanks for the input. I figured they did something. All my C7'S had a decent stereo. Our 2 Colorado's were equipped with the Bose as was our 2020 Blazer RS. But they just sounded weak. Then I got a Silverado 2021 Silverado and the Bose sounded really good and same in wife's 2021 Tahoe, again with Bose. So I was surprised when I got the new Camaro and the stereo sounded much better than my 2018 Camaros.
I know there are way better car systems than Bose. I even had the Bose home theater system for a while. Now I have a $300 Samsung soundbar/wireless sub that destroys the Bose Acoustimass 5. |

I think my '21 ZL1 BOSE stereo sounds really good. Though you do have to dial the highs back a little (i.e., +1 or +2) otherwise they get a little harsh. But the separation, volume, and clarity is pretty good for an auto system IMO. I like how BOSE automatically increases the bass at low volumes so that the bass doesn't get lost to road noise. It's not crazy or anything, but it's a nice touch.
I've listened to the Burmester that comes in the 2019 Mercedes E class and it was really good, but it's been too long to make any comparison to the BOSE in my '21 ZL1.

I thought the the same when I picked up my 20 2SS. The stereo sounds significantly better.
I daily drove 16 and 18 2SS so I had a good baseline familiarity. I immediately noticed the sound quality was way better

I haven't owned one before 2021, but based on all the old threads about the Bose being unimpressive (albeit better than the 1SS system), I was pleasantly surprised by how decent it sounds. Makes more sense now given that they (apparently) improved it as of 2019.

Is it they have different components or the attenuation is worse because of the top?
I thought the Bose in my 19 sounded pretty decent. I set the EQ to the same in the 21 & I kinda thought it had a little better bass & higher frequencies sound a bit more crisp. |

The convertibles have 2 less speakers than the coupes.

I would assume the convertible top has SOMETHING to do with the difference as well. Sound quality is much more involved than simply having a "good" head unit, amp, speakers, etc. The environment in which the sound is heard can have a major impact on the perceived quality.
