If you want to do a square setup to save tire costs later, that's understandable, although IMO you will compromise either traction (rear) or steering response (front). I'll let someone who does run a square setup comment any further, though.

We just got a 2SS. In January. I was surprised by the stock summer only tires being a problem simply parking the car outside if temps get too low. So I got a set of Flow One wheels in 18x8.5 and put Vredestien Snows on in 245/hmmm I forget but I think 60/18. Have not driven in the snow but it was fine as far as spinning them in the dry. Im sure I could if I wanted. I spent just about 1200 bucks delivered mounted and balanced. I had a friend program the TPMS and that will need to be done each swap. But Tire Rack sells a programmer for I thing under $50.

Guys, the advice here is straying somewhat from reality. Let's go back to the OP:
Quote:
A lot of people keep two sets: one for warm months and one for winter. You can also certainly go that route. If you do that, then I agree with those advising you to go with either the SS or 1LE sizing. If you're going to get new wheels for performance, then yeah, you might as well go wider. You can go with the same diameter and width front and rear if you prefer, but a truly "square" setup has the same offset front and rear also and our Camaros don't support this. You can do it if you get the offset for the rear spec and then use spacers up front, but you will then probably need to get longer wheels studs. As someone already wrote, there are other threads that go deep into this topic if you are really interested. Just search for "square" in the title. Quote:

I did a square set up 275/40/19 with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's and really like them.

How do you find the noise on the PS’s? Wife’s CTS had Pirelli P Zero Nero run flats as OEM and we got Mich PS AS’s to replace them last year and they seem really loud compared to the Pirellis. Really annoying on a Caddy that’s supposed to be a quiet luxury car! Granted it’s got the upgraded 18’s (and a stiffer ride) from std 17’s, but it used to be quieter.

Put another way, the stock Goodyears were much more rumbly and "whooshy", if that makes sense, I had to raise my voice a little to carry on conversations in the car, whereas these PS4S tires are nearly silent.

I put on a set of 1LE wheels on my LT1. They look great and the car handles really well. I'll keep my stock LT1 wheels for winter use, or I may install a set of high perf all-seasons on the 1LE wheels and use them year round.

I love that Rally green. Wish had still been available on the '21s. Looks sharp! I'd like to do the same thing you did, pick up some 1LE wheels. But that may be next year's project. I'm jealous.

Yep, the run-flats have a completely different sidewall construction and they are hard as rocks. Just ask the guys that have to mount them! That's why they are so noisy.
