Front Camera Using Camera Fin
I know A-A-Ron here has done this but anyone use the camera fin and rear view mirror from a 2020+ as their front camera?
I have a 2018 ZLE and was tossing the idea around of using a 2020+ antenna camera and rear view mirror. I would take the camera out of the fin of course and put it into a different housing mount and since its already wired to the rear view mirror, I'd just run the wires and replace my current rear view mirror with it. I know gen5diy has a $800-$1300 front camera kit but not only is that pricey i dont want to have to send them my head unit. Besides the cost, their install seems more complicated than my idea. Obviously I would have to do more research so any thoughts and experiences are definitely welcomed. Thanks in advance.

I don’t know how possible it is to take the camera out of the shark fin unless you’re talking about the spoiler cam

I had reached out to gen 5 diy about this a while back. They pointed out that this doesn't work because with the fin camera pointed forward, the display would be backwards on the rear view mirror. They said they have no way to flip the input horizontally.
