Alternative to PowerStop Track Day pads

I have been running the PowerStop Trackday pads on the 6 pistons Brembo brakes. They are not bad and very easy on the rotors but I am looking for something with more bite that will not destroy rotors too fast. I anyone that has used the PowerStop pads and switched to something else have any recommendations? These are purely for track day use, I run in the advanced group at Laguna Seca, Thunderhill and Sonoma raceway. I have read lots of the brake threads on ST43 and DTC60 but don’t see any comparison to the PowerStop Pads.

Thanks

I'd like to think I drive fast and aggressively and have ran a lot of trackdays and am still on my factory original pads for my 1LE, the bite and lifespan seems to be great. I'm currently at 2600miles of track and autocross only on my trailer queen and still have about half pad left.

I ran the OEM pads as I was getting to know the car. I run through about 3 sets of OEM pads and about the same of the PowerStop TrackDay. I do like the PowerStop better than the OEM pads. I think the PowerStop have better bite than the OEM with the same wear on the rotors.

Just curious, those of you running either OEM or StopTech. How many days/ combined street miles do you get out of a set?

I just got DCT 60s, as I’m yet to see a street pad handle the heat and not leave any uneven deposits or melt. I like to drive deep into the brake zones and brake late and hard. Can the OEM pad really handle this?

I just put on a set of GLock G10s on the front and G8s on the back. Once I bedded them in I couldn't believe the grip. Well worth the money for track day next week.

They are a nice pad. I ran a few sets of 10/8 and 12/10 on a different car. They can leave uneven deposits when overheated, so look out for that. When that happens there will be a vibration at light to mid pedal applies, but if you leave the pads in for a week and drive on a street, they scrub themselves off.

You gotta stop telling people how much better and cheaper the PSTD pads are than the OEM pads or they will start buying them and increase the price.

But yes I 100% agree with you, everyone thinks Powerstop is shit because most people only know them for the ceramic no dust street pads.

FWIW I never ran any other pad besides OEM or PSTD on my Camaro, but I did just recently try DTC70/60 on my C6 Z06. The bite was ridiculous and not in a good way for me at least. It was very hard to modulate, overpowered the tires, wore out quickly, and destroyed my rotors. I now am running the PSTDs again on the vette.

(assuming you meant power stop not stoptech?)

I get about 4 days out of the front PSTD pads at tracks like Mid Ohio, COTA, NCM, VIR, Pitt Race.

They have plenty bite/modulatability and are super cheap. Have had some slight fitment issues on the rear where the brake pad backing plate was snug against the hub but made it work. Great pads... but don't buy them all up, as AJ said!

I ran the power stops as my first “tracks dedicated pad” and have since switched to DTC70s. I prefer the more aggressive initial bite and consistency from them throughout a 20-25 min session at big tracks.

Thanks for the info. I had read the 70’s have a lot more bite than the 60’s and were hard on rotors. I talked to a guy running them on his 2SS at Laguna and he was also generating a ton of heat.
