Oil pump failure - charge pump?

My zl1 1le is telling me to shut down engine due to low oil pressure.
It seems like my pump gave up.

The issue is that I am located in europe way off from the dealer.
So to the question, where is the pump located and can a none Chevrolet dealer
Charge the pump?

You may very well likely need to replace...see the thread on oil pump failures. It should hold at 30 while at idle.

What year is your car? What is production date? (on the door jam)

The answer is that any mechanic can change it if they are even a decently good mechanic, but it is very labor intensive and will likely not be even remotely cheap.

Contact Chevrolet to get your options. Your warranty should cover the repair and transportation to the nearest authorized repair facility.

Yes, a good GM mechanic can change the pump. First, do your research and find the best mechanic available. That's a standard repair for any good mechanic and the part (GM 12686434) is not that expensive, it's on average less than $150 in US.

Confirm warranty claim process with your warranty provider (the insurance company) and file a claim to make sure they'll cover the work. This repair should cost less than $1000 and take 1 day.

And btw the correct word is "change" not "charge". "Charge" is what they'll do to your credit card to pay for the work :-)

Can you describe the failure event? You said while on a track? Did you shut down immediately? How long after the light?

The reported warranty work cost to replace the pump on my ZL1 was $2300 and it took three days.

The chassis cradle and entire front of the engine must be removed to get to the pump.... definitely not a trivial job.

Thats not good news, but in my experience full r and r of most engines is $1500-$2000. $2300 seems high for an oil pump swap even with removal of sub-frame and engine parts.
