Squeaky brakes intermittently

Only have 11k miles on the car with the original brake pads I believe (bought it with 3k miles and they dust terribly). Plenty of meat on the pads after I visually verified, not close to wear clip.

Some drives they don't squeak, some drives they do.

What say you?

I burnish the brakes properly after each pad and/or rotor replacement and they never squeak, even though I have the 1LE 6-piston fronts with the same high performance Ferodo HP 1000/1 pads (so the same "BDK" aka brake dust king option), Well okay, I do get some squeaking temporarily each time I clean the wheels and do the short "rust removal" drive afterwards, but that is to be expected.

Just in case someone reads this who hasn't heard of the process, here is how to do it as per GM:

Usually in my wash routine with wheels I try to soak the calipers and hit them with a heavy steady stream though some squeak I consider normal. That little bit seems to help, especially if you're running the OE pads and based on however you run your car consider a pad change to a less dust version like the Powerstop Z26 pad which is what I run.

I don't track the car and the dust is annoying but I like the stopping power of the brembos. The powerstops are chicom made, do not want.

Any recommendations for a US made pad that has similar stopping power and less brake dust?

I put on powerstop one month after purchase and they stop on a dime. I think the fact that I changed them so soon after purchase, I have no comparison for me to complain about. And forget about US-made, just like the phone or computer you are currently using to post this, you will be going to Italy or Canada for the closest pads.

You are not going to find another pad with less dust and similiar stopping power as the OEM pads. People may say certain pads feel the same but they are not. The popular Powerstops are the Z28....I believe but this is what you get when you buy a track focused car with track focused pads and tires.

With the squeaking, just give it a couple of very hard stops from 30 mph (on a safe road of course) and it'll go away. Driving the car like a normal person will cause brake pad buildup on the rotors and caliper pad area and thats where the squeaking comes from, normally.

I think you meant the PowerStop Z26 (see these 1LE specific front and rear pads as examples).

My experience is that after burnishing I can drive the car "normally" for hundreds of miles and there is little to no pad buildup, no squeaking either, and I'm using the stock Ferodo HP1000/1 pads.

+1 to burnishing properly.

I had brand new pads when I got my 911S and they would really squeal sometimes, so I followed a similar procedure as above and it killed the squeal permanently.

Takes some time and effort, but it was worth it.

So you had driven on the pads and they squealed at times. You did a proper burnishing procedure after the initial 1st time drive on the pads and that solved the squealing issue for good?

It's not going to solve the problem permanently unless you get on the brakes hard, time from time.

I'm able to do that with my car, safely, when I drive to and from work. I don't have many good curvy roads around me so I do it where I can when I'm not on a road course.

If you're never going to track your car and can't deal with the brake dust, just buy the Powerstops and call it a day. Hang onto the OEM pads if you ever do decide to go to a road course.

Exactly what I did... Not tracking, have the original pads in box but have the PowerStop Z26 pads installed for super low dust...
