Engine cleaning

I came across a thread months back on how to keep your engine bay clean by using a alcohol/water mixture ... spray and wipe. However, I cannot remember, nor find the thread, the ratio for the mixture. Is it a 1-to-1 ratio? Appreciate any help on this.

What percent IPA are you using? 70%, 91% or 99%? Only asking to give the OP as much info as possible.

This is a very ODD thing to clean under the engine bay
Just wash it with a hose and an APC. your not going to hurt anything. After your done blow any standing water out with a leaf blower and dress the engine bay.

If you dont want to use a hose get a rinseless wash and mix it up in a spray bottle and use that over IPA mix.

50% is what the bottle says.

The engine bay isn't dirty enough to warrant a hose but light dusting with a towel.

Thanks all!

Wow! I guess I take the easy way out on this. At the end of one of my rinseless washes I dip a microfiber towel in my rinseless bucket, wring it out and wipe down the engine compartment. Takes me about ten minutes at the most. This has worked just fine for the last 7.5 years - as everything still looks new.

then use a rinseless wash and a towel. I can see using an IPA over and over is going to end up drying out plastics and rubber over time and fade and make them brittle.

Some people use S100 to clean the engine compartment:

Unfortunately, most of the time I'm using 70% because that is what is available so then I go light on the distilled water... If I can get 91% Isopropyl Alcohol than I basically do a 50/50 mix...
